Monocular Prismatic MK I(I)- 8x24

Dieses britische Militärmonokular "Monocular Prismatic" ist aufgrund der schlecht gravierten/gestanzten Deckelbeschriftung oben schwer einzuordnen: außer "Mon Prism" könnte die Beschrifutng weiter "No 1A" lauten und dahinter "Mk I" oder Mk II". Nach vorhandenen Literaturquellen zu britischen Bezeichnungen würde dies nicht den gemessenen Werten 8x24 entsprechen. Vergleiche hierzu die Monokulare Mon Pris MKI und Mon Pris 1a MKII. Die Produktions- oder Armeenummer lautet "4588". Der untere Deckel trägt die Erklärungen zur nicht mehr vorhandenen Strichplatte "Graticules 1/2° apart, and 1/4°, 1/2° und 1° high" sowie einen "broad arrow" mit gegenüberstehenden kleineren "broad arrow". Letzteres bedeutet, dass das Glas vom Militär wieder verkauft wurde (evtl. wurde deshalb auch die Strichplatte entfernt). Das Gehäuse hat eine Rauhlackummantelung und eine Trageöse. Das linskseitige Okular hat eine Geradführung beim Fokussieren und eine umlaufende Dioptrienskala. Die Augenmuschel ist aus schwarzem Bakelit.

The British military "Monocular Prismatic" is hard to classify, because its engravings are very faint. Besides the usual "Mon Prism" ther may be marks "1A" and "Mk I" or "Mk II". According to literature, this does not really corresponden with the measured specifications of 8x24 – cf. the moncoualrs Mon Pris MKI and Mon Pris 1a MKII. Produktion- or military issue number is "4588". The lower cover plate is inscribed with "Graticules 1/2° apart, and 1/4°, 1/2° und 1° high" to explain the reticle divisions, although the reticle is not present any more. There is also a broad arrow with second facing smaller borad arrow denoting that the glass was sold by the army (hence the reticle was taken out). The housing is covered with black crinkle paint and has a cast-in strap lug. The left-hand sided ocular has linear movement when focused and a dioptre scale. The eyecup is made of black Bakelite.

Das 319g schwere Monokular ist zwischen 12 und 13cm lang, misst oben am Gehäuse 50x50mm und unten 52x52mm. Der Objektivtubus und der Fokussierungsring sind 35mm. Der Okularubus 25mm und die Augenmuschel 36mm im Durchmesser.

The 319g monocular measures between 12 and 13 cm. the housing is 50x50mm at its top and 52x52mm at its bottom. the objective tube and the focusing ring are 35mm, the ocular tube 25mm and the eyecup 36mm in diameter.
