Monocular Prismatic 1A MkII

Pris." This is a well preserved British military monocular marked "Mon. Pris." (Monocular Prismatic) and "No 1A MkII". The productrion or serial number is 87333. Here we have a 8x30 monocular made of brass and aluminium, the metal parts being lacquered black, the body covered with a dark brown rough paint (?). Just like the Prismmonocular MkII (1928) it has a ocular with llinear movement. The dioptre scale runs fully around the ocular, marked + to - 5. It also has two knurled rings for a sure grip.
The ocular is fitted with a reticule (division IlIl|lIlI). The bottom cover is inscribed "Graticules 1/2° apart, and 1/4°, 1/2° und 1° high". There is the "broad arrow" too.

Its body measures 55x54mm at its top and 60x60mm at its bottom. The ocular is 31mm in diameter and the eye-cup as well as the objective tube are 38mm in diameter.

Another "Monocular Prismatic 1a MK I" shows the same cosntruction features, but persumabely is a 6x25 moncoular. Serial number is 3324. The lower cvoer is marked with the graticules divisions.

These monoculars could be made i nfrance, as they follow the construction design by "Huet" or "Hunsicker & Alexis".
