Monocular Stabilized 7x-14x (VSU/2P)

Diese bildstabilisierte Monokular folgt dem optischen System eine Schaer-Spieglers und ähnelt dem Bausch & Lomb 20x60. Einer der Umlenkspiegel (B, 3) ist in einer halb-trägen Flüssigkeit (C) gelagert und ermöglicht ein stabileres Bild, wenn da umliegende Gesamtgehäuse des Monokulars durch Erschütterung oder Bewegung wackelt. Es dürfte sich hierbei um das US-Patent 3,944,325 von Humphreys (Optical Research and Development Corp., Berkeley CA) handeln, das in verschiedenen Schritten ab Anfang der 1970er Jahre entwickelt wurde (s. Patentskizze mit Buchstaben und Foto mit Ziffern). Das Monokular hat vergütete Optiken, ein 54mm Objektivlinse mit 50mm effektivem Durchmesser und einem Okularstück mit Fokusring, Zoomring und Dioptrienausgleich. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Weichgummi und lässt sich Ziehharmonika-artig eindrücken. Es gibt eine mit Riemen befestigte Gummischutzkappe für das Okular. Okular- und Objektivseite sind aus schwarz lackiertem Metall und bilden einen Rahmen, zwischen dem ein graues Plastikgehäuse sitzt. Eine Handschlaufe ist am Rahmen befestigt. Zusätzlich kann ein Trageriemen befestigt werden.

This image-stabilized monocular is made after the optical Schaer mirror system. It resembles the Bausch & Lomb 20x60. One of the reflecting mirrors (B, 3) is set in a semi-liquid fluid (C) and leads to a more stable image, when the surrounding housing of the monocular is shaken or moved. The system most likely is the US-Patent 3,944,325 by Humphreys (Optical Research and Development Corp., Berkeley CA), which in several steps was developed since the 1970s (cf. patent drawing with letters and photo with numbers). The monocular has coated optics, a 54mm objective lens with 50mm aperture and an eyepiece with a focusing ring, zoom ring and dioptre adjustment. The eyecup is made of soft rubber which can be squeezed like a bellows. There is a rubber cap for the eyepiece attached to a strap. The eyepiece and objective side are made of black painted metal frames between which a grey plastic housing is held. A hand strap is screwed to the frame pieces. Additionally, a carrying strap can be attached.

Die Fokussierung geht von ca. 3,5m bis unendlich - markiert am Rahmenstück mit 150' (inch) bis ∞, der Zoomring mit gelbem Pfeil und Ziffer Richtung 7x und weißem Pfeil und Ziffer Richtung 14x gekennzeichnet; der Dioptrienring ist von +2 bis -4 markiert. Der äußere Deckel des zylindrischen Gehäuses, in dem sich das Stabilisierungssystem befindet ist mit "CEI. 1400000A Ser. No. 0005 DSGN ACT/PN. 21568/140-000 VSU-2/P Monocular, Stabilized Image Contr. F33657-71-C-0895 FSN. 6650-451-6914YB US" in mehreren Zeilen beschriftet. Ein weiterer Papieraufkleber am Gehäuse ist ebenfalls mit "Monocular, stabilized" beschriftet und trägt mehrere Zahlenfolgen. Das Monokular lässt sich in einem mit Gummi gepolsterten Metallkoffer transportieren.

The focusing ranges from c. 3.5m to infinity - being marked on the metal frame 150' (inch) to ∞, the zoom ring is marked with a yellow arrow and number for 7x and with a white arrow and number for 14x; the dioptre ring is marked from +2 to -4. The outer cover of the cylindrical housing holding the stabilisation system is inscribed in several lines "CEI. 1400000A Ser. No. 0005 DSGN ACT/PN. 21568/140-000 VSU-2/P Monocular, Stabilized Image Contr. F33657-71-C-0895 FSN. 6650-451-6914YB US". Another paper sticker on the housing is also inscribed "Monocular, stabilized" and bears several numbers. The monocular can be stored and carried in a rubber cushioned metal case.

The image stabilised monocular weighs 1565g. It is 235-255mm long. The grey housing measures 120x70x140mm. The objective frame is 60mm, the round housing containing the image stabilising system is 52mm, the focusing ring is 72mm, the zoom ring is 74mm, the dioptre ring is 52mm, and the eyecup is c. 57mm in diameter.
