Carl Zeiss LZF 7c (4x / 8x)

Das Zeiss Luftzielfernrohr 7c wurde zwischen den Kriegen hergestellt. Das Zeiss Datenblatt besagt, dass es "für Flakgeschütze bestimmt" und "zum Bekämpfen von Luftzielen im direkten Beschuß" gedacht war eine "Beschießung von See- und Landzielen" auch ermöglicht ist. Die spezielle Optik und Mechanik im Hauptrohr (3 Lagerzylinder) gestattet eine 360° Rotation bei immer aufrechten und seitenrichtigem bleibendem Bild. Ein Arretierungshebel (15 Sperrklinke)am Gehäuse kann in die Nase (16 Mitnehmernase) des Objektivtubuses eingerastet werden, so dass eine feste Blickrichtung vom Okular zum Objektiv vorliegt, dabei ist das Bild ca. 21 cm versetzt. Wenn die Nase nicht eingerastet wird, hakt sie in der Lafettenführung ein, um die Geshcützbewegung zu verfolgen. Das Objektivabdeckglas ist 40mm im Durchmesser. Am runden Prismengehäuse ist das Okularstück vierfach angeschraubt. Es hat ein Beleuchtungsfenster (8) und eine Dioptrieneinstellung (12) von plus bis minus 5 mit entsprechenden Skalenstrichen und Ziffern. Im Okular ist ein unterbrochenes Zielkreuz mit einer spitzen Visiermarke als Strichplatte. Die Beleuchtungseinheit (24, beim vorleigenden Exemplar etwas anders konstruiert als im Firmenbild) wird mit einem Schwalbenschwanz aufgeschoben. Die Beleuchtung kann mechanisch bis zum Abdunkeln reguliert werden. Ein Filterglas-Rad ("Skymglasrevolver", 6 Schaltknopf für Farbglaswechsler) an der Deckelseite des Prismengehäuse erlaubt das Einschwenken dreier Filter: grau, dunkelgrau, grün. Ein anderer Drehregler (14 Schaltknopf) lässt zwischen den Vergrößerungen 4x und 8x wechseln. Dabei muss zunächst ein kleiner Sicherungsriegel (13) verschoben werden, damit man einen Federhebel (15 Sperrklinke) lösen und den Vergrößerungswechsler (14) drehen kann. Über dem Okular befindet sich eine Stirnstützenhalterung (1). Diese lässt sich nach Lösen einer mittigen Flügelschraube leicht von links nach rechts verschieben, je nach benötigter Lagerung. Je nach zu nutzenden Auge lässt sich links oder rechts mit einem Vierkantstab - festgezurrt durch eine Flügelschraube (2) - die lederne Stirnstütze einschieben. An diese lässt sich links oder rechts mit Druckknöpfen eine Blindlasche aus Leder anbringen. Diese ist beim vorliegenden Exemplar vorhanden. Die Beschreibung und Abbildungen von Zeiss stellen auch einen Doppelaugenschutz mit normalen Augenmuscheln (9) sowie Gasmaskenaugenmuscheln (10) ausgestattet ist, davon jeweils eine Blindaugenmuschel. Die normalen Augenmuscheln werden weggeklappt, wenn die Gasmaske genutzt werden soll. In der Holzkiste befindet sich für das Okular eine einfache Balgen-artige Weichgummiaugenmuschel. Die vorliegende Stirnstütze weicht von der abgebildeten im Inhaltsfoto der Kiste ab (s. diese bei L.Z.F. 2a Bild 6, 13).

The Zeiss AA sighting telescope 7c was made between the wars. The Zeiss data sheet states that it was "intended for anti-aircraft guns" and "for combating air targets in direct fire"; a "bombardment of sea and land targets" is also possible. The special optics and mechanics in the main tube (3) allow a 360° rotation with an always upright and laterally correct image. A locking lever (15) on the housing can be snapped into the nose of the main tube (16) so that there is a fixed line of sight from the eyepiece to the lens, with the image offset by approx. 21 cm. If not locked it is hooked to the gun carriage to follow the movements. The lens cover glass is 40 mm in diameter. The eyepiece is screwed four times onto the round prism housing. It has an illumination window (8) and a diopter adjustment (12) of plus to minus 5 with corresponding line marks and numerals. There is a reticle with an interrupted crosshair with a pointed sighting mark in the eyepeice. The lighting unit (24, the specimen here comes with a differently constructed unit than the one in the orig. Zeiss photo) can be attached with a dovetail. The lighting can be regulated mechanically until dark. A filter glass wheel ("Skymglassrevolver", 6) on the cover side of the prism housing allows three filters to be swiveled in: grey, dark grey, green. Another rotary control (14) lets you switch between 4x and 8x magnifications. A small locking lever (13) must first be moved so that you can loosen a spring lever (15) and turn the magnification changer. There is a forehead rest mount (1) above the eyepiece. This can be easily moved from left to right by loosening a central wing screw, depending on the storage required. Depending on the eye to be used, the leather forehead rest can be inserted on the left or right with a square rod - fixed by a wing screw (2). A blind flap made of leather can be attached to this on the left or right with press studs. This is present in the specimen shown here. The original Zeiss manual and illustrations also provide a dual eyeguard fitted with normal eyecups (9) and gas mask eyecups (10), each with a blind eyecup. The normal eyecups are folded away when the gas mask is to be used. Inside the wooden box is a simple bellows-like soft rubber eyecup for the eyepiece. The present forehead rest deviates from the one shown in the photo of the contents of the box (see this at L.Z.F. 2a picture 6, 13).

Der runde Prismendosendeckel trägt eine bogenförmige Beschriftungsplatte. Das vorliegende Exemplar hat dort eine schwedische "Königskrone", gefolgt von dem Carl Zeiss Linsenlogo mit Modellnamen "L.Z.F. 7c" darüber und Spezifikationen links und rechts, danach "Siktkikare M/34 Höger till 15cm K / M/42 'Tre Kronor' Nr. 17" (= Fernglas M/34 Rechts für 15cm K / M/42 'Drei-Kronen' Nr. 17). Die angegebenen optischen Werte sind: 4x 17,5° und 8x 8,75°. "Tre Kronor" war eine leichte Kreuzer-Klasse der schwedischen Marine und gleichzeitig auch der Name eines der Schiffe 1947-1964 (weiteres Schiff "HMS Göta Lejon", s. z.B. hier. Es ist zu vermuten, dass das LZF 7c somit nach dem 2. Weltkrieg für den "Tre Kronor" Kreuzer weiter verwendet wurde.

The round prism box lid carries an arc-shaped labeling plate. The present specimen has a Swedish 'King's Crown' there followed by the Carl Zeiss lens logo with model name 'L.Z.F. 7c' above and specifications left and right, then 'Siktkikare M/34 Höger till 15cm K / M/42 'Tre Kronor' No. 17" (= binoculars M/34 right for 15cm K / M/42 'Three Crowns' No. 17). The specified optical values are: 4x 17.5° and 8x 8.75°. "Tre Kronor" was a light cruiser class of the Swedish Navy and at the same time the name of one of the ships 1947-1964 (other ship "HMS Göta Lejon", see e.g. here. It can be assumed that the LZF 7c was used for the "Tre Kronor" cruiser after World War II.

Auf der Gehäuseunterseite gibt es eine gebogene Lafettenmontierung (17), so dass das Zielfernrohr sich mit dem Geschützrohr bewegen kann. Die Transport- und Aufbewahrungskiste ist 41x31x18 cm groß und beinhaltet alle Zubehörteile (s. Abbildung des Inhaltsfotos). In einem kleinerem Deckelkasten in der Kiste wurde die Beleuchtungseinheit mit Kabel und Batterie untergebracht. Der Reinigungspinsel und Schmiermittel in der Deckelbefestigung fehlen. Die Kiste hat zwei Tragegriffe, zwei Schnapplaschen und ist mit "Siktkikare M. 34 L.Z.F. 7c" beschriftet.

There is a curved carriage mount (17) on the underside of the housing, allowing the scope to move with the gun barrel. The transport and storage box measures 41x31x18 cm and contains all accessories (see photo depicting the contents). The lighting unit with cable and battery was housed in a lid box in the box. The cleaning brush and lubricant in the cover attachment are missing. The box has two carrying handles, two snap-on latches and is inscribed "Siktkikare M. 34 L.Z.F. 7c".

Das Luftzielfernrohr ist aus Messing und wiegt ca. 9,5 kg. Es ist 310 mm lang und das Gehäuse plus okular ca. 215 mm hoch, davon das Okular 83 mm. Der Haupttubus ist 93mm, der schwarz lackierte Objektivtubus 70 mm und die seitliche Objektivglasfassung 53 mm im Durchmesser. Das Okularstück ist 48mm, der kreuzgeriffelte Fokussierungsring 54mm und die Augenmuschelfassung 50mm im Durchmesser. Das Prismen- und Filtergehäuse ist 75 mm lang und 94 mm im Durchmesser.

The air rifle scope is made of brass and weighs approx. 9.5 kg. It is 310 mm long and the housing plus eyepiece is approx. 215 mm high, of which the eyepiece is 83 mm. The main barrel is 93mm, the black painted lens barrel is 70mm and the side lens glass mount is 53mm in diameter. The eyepiece piece is 48mm, the cross-ribbed focusing ring is 54mm and the eyecup mount is 50mm in diameter. The prism and filter housing is 75mm long and 94mm in diameter.
