Carl Zeiss 8x24 "Simplact" (1908)

Das vorliegende 8x24 Monokular von Carl Zeiss Jena hat die Seriennummer 136308, wurde somit im Jahre 1908 gebaut und ist ein frühes der "Simplact"-Serie (Modell Telact ab 1907). Unter dem Zeiss-Linsenlogo auf dem oberen Messingdecckel sind die optischen Werte bereits mit "8x24" notiert, während bei späteren 8x24-Monokularen nur "8x" eingraviert wurde. Die Lederummantelung mit Naht und dass die Objektivfassung in einem Stück mit dem unteren Deckel gegossen ist (bei Zeiss ca. von 1907-1909), sprechen jedoch für die richtige zeitliche Einordnung. Die Messingdeckel sind dreifach verschraubt, das Okular hat eine umlaufende Dioptrienskala, markiert bei +5 bis -5. Der Fokussierungsteil ist horizontal und vertikal geriffelt. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit. Die Okularlinse misst 13mm im Durchmesser.

The Carl Ziss model depicte has serial number 136308 and thus was made in 1908. So it is an early example of the "Simplact" series (since 1907 model Telact). at the top brass cover plate there is the Zeiss lens logo and below already both optical specifications "8x24", whereas later 8x24 monoculars are only inscribed "8x". Yet, the leather covering with its seam and the one-piece bottom cover and objective frame (Zeiss from c. 1907-1909) denote a correct dating. The brass cover plates have three screws, the ocular has a full dioptre scale ranging from +5 to -5. The focusing ring has horizontal and vertical grooves. The eyecup is made of Bakelite. The ocular lens has a 13mm diameter.

Das 8x24 wiegt 245g. Es ist 113-120mm lang, das Gehäuse ist oben 50x50mm und unten 53x53mm. Der Objektivtubus misst 34mm im Durchmesser, das linksseitige Okularstück 24mm, der Fokussierungsring 28mm und die Augenmuschel 35mm im Durchmesser.

The 8x24 weighs 245g. It is 113-120mm in length and measures 50x50mm at the top pf the housing and 55x55mm at the bottom of the housing. The objective tube is 34mm, the left-hand sided eyepiece 24mm, the focusing ring 28mm, and the eyecup 35mm in diameter.
