The specifications are the same as the Avimo 7x42 with Porro 1 prisms. It comes with a long rubber eyecup, a 28mm diameter ocular lens, a matt black lacquering, and is fixed focus.Further information can be found in A. Vacani's article. Thre markings on the cover ring of the prism housing runs "525-8305 MONO XLIEI PPE 044/73" which indicates a production or development number, hints to a experimental series (prototype) by XLIEI, names the producer being PPE = Pilkington Perkin-Elmer (cf. company history), and states that most likely this is the 44th piece from 1973. |
| Ein von mir erworbenes Exemplar weist ebenfalls die Produktionsnummer "525-8305" auf ist aber auf den kleinen aufgenieteten Schildern mit "AVL / 004 / 74" und "Telescope 7x42 XLIEI" beschriftet. AVL bezeichnet die "Avimo Ltd." und es scheint das 4. Exemplar von 1974 zu sein. Das Gehäuse hat eine strukturierte glänzend schwarze Lackierung. Die Weichgummiaugenmuschel lässt sich auf ihrer Fassung verschieben. Vier leicht einrastende Positionen lassn sich erfühlen. Am Objektivende gibt es eine Gummischutzring und der bei Britischen Militärmodellen oft angetroffene grüne Kunstledertrageriemen ist vorhanden. Die Optik ist blau ergütet. Es gibt eine Strichplatte mit einer Strichteilung von 10mils laut doritger Beschriftung von "1 DIV = 10 MILS". Das Sehfeld ist ca. 120m/1000m. | Another mopnocular in my colelction also has the production number "525-8305", but on two small riveted plaques it is marked "AVL / 004 / 74" and "Telescope 7x42 XLIEI". AVL stands or "Avimo Ltd.". This seems to be the fourth model from 1974. The housing has a textured glossy black lacquering. The soft rubber eyecip can be moved on its frame. There are four slightly click-stop postitions. The obejctive end is protected by a rubber ring. A green synthetic leather strap - often found with modern British military optics - is in place. The optics are coated blue. There is a reticle with 10mils divisions according to the inscription on it, i.e. "1 DIV = 10 MILS". The field of view is about 120m/1000m. |
