Barkers Kensington "The Whippet" x6

Dieses Galileische Monokular hat an der Objektivfassung außen die Bezeichnung "The Whippet" (schnelle, abere kleinere Jagdhundrasse wie der Greyhound), die Vergrößerungsangabe "x6", den Vertreibernamen des Londoner Kaufhauses "Barker's Kensignton" sowie "Patent applied for". Das Whippet könnte von einer der britischen Herstellerfirmen wie Kershaw, Watson oder Stewart und aus der Zeit von 1900 - 1914 stammen. Das Monokular hat ein drehbares Okular mit Dioptrienskala zwishcen + und - 0, 2, und 4 und eine rotierende Aluminium-Augenmuschel, welche das Fokussieren direkt beim Halten am Auge erlaubt. Das Whippet ist aus schwarz lackiertem Messing in einer konischen Gehäuseform mit einem geraden Objektivendstück gefertigt. Es hat eine solide Ledertasche mit Riemen. Der Objektivlinsendurchmesser beträgt 36mm.

This Galilean monocular has the following inscriptions on the outside of the straigth objective tube: "The Whippet" (a fast but smaller hunting dog breed like the Greyhound), the magnification "x6," the distributor's name, the London department store "Barker's Kensignton," and "Patent applied for." The Whippet could have been made by one of the British manufacturers such as Kershaw, Watson or Stewart. It may date from 1900 - 1914. The monocular has a rotating eyepiece with a diopter scale between + and - 0, 2, and 4, and a rotating aluminum eyecup that allows focusing directly while holding it to the eye. The Whippet is made of black lacquered brass in a conical body with a straight lens end. It comes with a sturdy leather case with a strap. The objective lens diameter is 36 mm.
