Die Serien- oder Produktionsnummer ist 72203. Der Modellname lautet "Lynceus". Lynceus stammt aus der griechischen Mythology und bedeutet "luchsäugig". Das erste Exemplar hat ein rechtsseitige Okularstück. | This is a 6x30 monocular made of brass and with an Ebonite covering by "W. Watson & Sons Ltd." in London. It is marked with "x6" which is hinting at a prodcution date before WWI. Its serial or production number is 72203. The model name is "Lynceus". The name derives from Greek mythology and means "lynx eyed". This first specimen comes with a right-hand sided eyepeice. |
| Ein weiteres 6x30 mit linksseitigem Okularstück trägt am oberen Deckel die Ortsangabe "London & Barnet" und die Seriennummer 4218. Die schwarz lackierten Deckel sind dreifach verschraubt. Der obere hat einen überstehenden Deckelrand, dessen Schlitz die Tragereimenöse bildet. Die umlaufende Dioptrienskala reicht von + bis - 5. die Augnmuschel ist aus Bekelit. Der passende Lederköcher ist auf dem Deckel mit den Initialien J.S.R. gestempoelt. | Another 6x30 specimen with a left-hand sided eyepeice is inscribed with "London & Barnet" and the serial number 4218. The black painted cover plates have three screws. The top cover has a protruding plate with a slit which is forming the strap lug. The full dioptre scale ranges from + to - five. The eyecup is made of Bakelite. The matching leather case is stamped with the initials J.S.R. on its lid. |
