Watson "Premier" 12x30

Das vorliegende 12x30 Porro-1-Monokular von "Watson & Sons, London" müsste kurz vor dem oder während des 1. Weltkriegs hergestellt worden sein. Auf dem unteren Deckel ist der Besitzer "F. J. Dorling" sowie "Gunner R.N." eingraviert. Jener "Kanonier" war im Suffolk Regiment und starb 8.Nov. 1917. Der obere Deckel trägt den Modellnamen "Premier" gefolgt von den Optischen Werten sowie dem Firmennamen und der Nummer 27032. Die schwarz lackierten Deckel sowie das Gehäuse mit eingegossener Trageriemenöse sind aus Aluminium. Das Gehäuse hat eine strukturierte Hartgummiummantelung. Ebenso ist die Augenmuschel aus Hartgummi. Die Objektivfassung und das Okularstück sind aus Messing. Das linksseitige Okular hat eine umlaufende Diotprienskala mit Markierungen bei Null und +/5. Der Fokussierungsteil ist vertikal geriffelt.

The 12x30 porro 1 monocular by Watson & Sons, London must date shortly before WWI or from the war. The bottom cover is marked with its owner "F. J. Dorling" as well as "Gunner R.N.". That gunner was in the Suffolk Regiment and died Nov., 8th 1917. The top cover bears the model name "Premier", followed by the optical data, the company's name and number 27032. The black painted cover plates and the housing with its cast-in strap lug are made of aluminium. The housing is covered with textured Ebonite. The eyecup also is made of hard rubber. The objective frame and the eyepiece are made of brass. The left-hand sided eyepiece has a full dioptre scale with markings at zero and +/-5. The focusing part is knurled vertically.

Das 12x30 wurde in einem Lederköcher geliefert. Es ist 111mm bis 120mm lang und 309g schwer. Das Gehäuse misst oben 53x53 und unten 58x58mm. Der Objektivfassung ist 38mm, das Okularstück 25mm, der Fokussierungsring 25mm und die Augenmuschel 33mm im Durchmesser.
