J.D. Möller Tourox(mo) 8x

 

Das Tourox mit den Werten 8x25 funktioniert mit einem Möller-Dachkantprisma. Es stammt aus den Jahren 1925-39 und trägt die Seriennummer 12500 sowie das J.D.Möller-Schriftlogo (überlappende Buchstaben JDM) – darunter "Wedel" (s. 4. Foto). Der 5fach verschraubte Deckel des Prismengehäuses ist innen mit "36" gestempelt. Diese Zahl findet sich auch unter der kleinen aufgeschraubten Plastikabdeckung1) ins Metall gestempelt wieder (s. 5. Foto). Ein anderes Exemplar ist mit "Touroxmo 8x" an der einen Deckelseite bezeichnet, hat die Seriennummer 16936, darunter "J.D. Moeller Wedel", das logo, sowie "London, New York" und "DRP".

The Tourox with optical data of 8x25 has a Moeller rooftop prism. It dates from 1925 to '39, has got the serial number 12500, and the J.D.Moeller letter logo (overlapping letter JDM) – below this "Wedel" is inscribed (s. 4th photo). The body cover plate (set with 5 screws) is stamped 36 inside. This number is also under the small plastic cover stamped into the metal body1) (s. 5th photo). Another specimen is marked "Touroxmo 8x" on one cover plate, with its S/N "16936" and below "J.D. Moeller Wedel", the logo, and "London, New York, DRP".

  

Das Tourox wiegt 157g (S/N 16936 - 171g) und mißt 75x52x28mm. Das (dem verwendeten Prisma in der Form folgende) achteckige Messinggehäuse ist schwarz lackiert; an der Beschriftungsseite ist er stark abgegrifffen (s.o.). Die seitlichen Lederabdeckungen sind noch vorhanden. Das geriffelte Okularteil hat beim 12500 Modell keine wirkliche Augenmuschel, sondern eine mit 3 winzigen Schrauben befestigten Abschlussring (s. 9. Foto); das 16936 Modell hat eine dunkelbraune Bakelitaugenmuschel. Der Dioptrienausgleich geht von plus zu minus 5.

The Tourox weighs 157g (S/N 16936 - 171g), and measures 75x52x28mm. The octagonal brass body – following the used prism form – is painted black; the marked side is worn by use (s. above). The leather covers on the sides are still there. The milled eyepiece of the 12500 version does not have a real eye-cup, but a sort of end ring/plate screwed onto with three tiny screws (s. 9th photo), the 16936 version has got a dark brown Bakelite eyecup. The dioptre adjustment ranges from plus to minus 5.

Die vorhandene Ledertasche ist nicht Original und trägt eine Beschriftung mit dem "General Electric"-Logo und den Namen eines New Yorker Optik- oder Kameraladens.

The leather case provided is not original, but has the "General Electric" logo, and the name of a New York optician/camera shop.

1) Die Kunststoffabdeckplatte scheint mir vor allem im binokularen Modell zur Montage der Knickbrücke zu dienen, und hat beim Monokular eher eine ästhetische Funktion.
