Steward 'Rectiform' x6 (6x23)

Das Monokular mit der Modellbezeichnung "x6 Rectiform" vom Londoner Hersteller "J.H. Steward Ltd Strand London" (Beschriftung am oberen Deckel) wird wohl vor oder um den 1. Weltkrieg herum hergestellt worden sein. Die optischen Werte sind 6x23. Der Lederköcher ist am oberen Deckel mit einem großen "D" gestempelt. Der untere blanke Messingdeckel, der einst auch schwaz lackiert war, ist mit einem Seefahrer-Emblem (der Master Mariners) gekennzeichnet. Dieses zeigt 3 Masten oder Türme oben jeweils mit einer Fahne, wobei die Masten auf einer in der Mitte gebogenenn Plattform stehen, diese wiederum befindet sich auf einem Balken mit angedeuter Gischt. Darunter ist der Leitspruch "DEUS DABIT VELA" = "Gott gibt Segel" oder "Wind" eingraviert. Das Monokulargehäuse mit einer Raulackummantelung ist aus Aluminium, die andern Metallteile sidn aus Messing. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Hartgummi. Die Optik ist unvergütet. Das rechtsseitige Okular hat eine umlaufende Dioptrienskala mit Ziffern bei null und +/- 5.

The monocular with the model name "x6 Rectiform" was made by the London-based manufacturer "J.H. Steward Ltd Strand London" (as marked on the upper cover) and was likely manufactured before or around World War I. The optical power is 6x23.
