Steinheil Kleinteleskop

Dies ist ein kleines Messingteleskop mit zwei Auszügen von Steinheil München. Eventuell war es einmal am Haupttubus beledert oder lackiert. An der Objektivfassung und Augenmuschel sind Spuren von schwarzer Farbe zu sehen. Das Okular ist mit einer vorschwenkbaren Schutzplatte versehen. Bei einem Objektivdurchmesser von 14mm und einer Austrittspupille von 2mm dürfte die Vergrößerung bei ca. 6- oder 7fach liegen.
An der Objektivfassung steht "Steinheil in München No. 377" in geschwungener Gravur-Schrift. Nach den Unterlagen von Steinheil war das Teleskop No. 377 das 8. einer Reihe von 370-377 im Jahr (ca.) 1857 (vgl. H. Thiele: "Fabrikationsbuch Steinheil, 4. Aufl., 2026, S. 23"; Franz/Reutinger: "Steinheil ...", Bild des Objektivs No. 18, S. 87). Mit weiteren Kleinserien kurz zuvor und nachher gibt es nur ein paar Dutzend dieses Fernrohrs. Die No. 373 ist bekannt und wurde in einer Auktion verkauft.

Steinheil Small Telescope
No. 377

This is a small brass telescope with two draws by Steinheil Munich. It once probably was covered with leather or painted at its main tube. There are still signs of black poaint on the objective frame and the eyecup. The ocular has a swing-in protection disc. Having a 14mm objective diameter and a 2mm exit pupil, magnification is about 6 to 7 times.
The objective frame is engraved "Steinheil in München No. 377" with a handscript script. According to documetns of Steinheil this telescope is the eigth of a batch from no. 370 - 377 in the year of c. 1857 (cf. H. Thiele: "Fabrikationsbuch Steinheil, 4. ed., 2026, p. 23"; cf. Franz/Reutinger: "Steinheil ...", picture of objective No. 18, S. 87). Including other small production runs shortly before and after, only a few dozen of this telescope exist. No. 373 is knwon and was sold in an auction as well.

Das Steinheil Teleskop wiegt 141g, es ist zusammengeschoben 107mm, ausgezogen 220mm lang. Das Okular ist 25mm, der 1. Tubus 18,5mm, der zweite 23mm und der Haupttubus 28mm, während die Objektivfassung wiederum nur 21mm im Durchmesser ist. The Steinheil teelscope weighs 141g. It measures 107mm closed, and 220mm opened. The ocular is 25mm, the 1st tube 18.5mm, the 2nd tube 23mm, and the main tube 28mm, whereas the objective frame is only 21mm in diameter.
