S.O.M. 12,5x50

Das 2834g schwere Richtvisier von S.O.M. (Société d'Optique et Méchanique de Haute Précision) ist aus Messing und Aluminium. Es ist lediglich oben am Hauptubus mit dem Firmenlogo gekennzeichnet. Es ist weitgehend noch grün lackiert; das Okularstück ist schwarz lackiert. Es gibt eine ausziehbeare Sonennblende und eine Metall-Schutzkappe mit einer Blendenöffnung, die sich mit einem Drehdeckel verschließben lässt. Als weitere Blendschutz gibt es einen auf das Metall-Okular steckbaren Sonennfilter. Das Zielvisier wurde wohl mit einer Gabelmontage an einem Geschütz o.a. montiert. Ob die runden Ansätze am verdickten Mittelring dafür ausreichten oder abgesägt und nachlackiert wurden, ist unsicher. Der Dioptrienausgleich reicht von + bis - 7 und ist bei O, +/5 markiert. Das Monokular hat ein Porro 2 Prismensystem. Die optischen Teile sind nicht vergütet, was auf eine Herstellungszeit vor dem 2. Weltrkieg hinweist.

The 2834g director sight by S.O.M. (Société d'Optique et Méchanique de Haute Précision) is made of brass and aluminium. It is only marked with the maker's logo on the top of the tube. Most parts are still lacquered green. The eyepiece is lacquered black. There is an extendable sunshade and a metal protection cap with an aperutre that can be closed with a swing-in cover. As a further ant-blinding item, there is a slip-on sun filter for the metal ocular. The sight was probably attached to a fork-mount to some gun or other device. It is uncertain, whether the round trunnion stumps ont he thicker tube part already suffice for mounting or were sawn off and re-painted at some time. THe dioptre adjsutment ranges from + to - 7, being marked at O, +/5. The monocualr has a Porro II prism ystem. The optical parts are uncoate, which hitn to a production time before WWII.

Der große Okulartubus misst 53mm, das normale Okularstück 33mm, der fokussierungsring 40mm und die Metallaugenmuschel 38,5mm im Durchmesser.

It is 64mm, the cap 65mm, the objective tube 58mm, the 135mm long main tube 53mm or 59mm at the moutning part, and the cylindrical prism hosuing is 84mm in diameter. The big ocualr tbue measures 53mm, the regular eypeice 33mm, the focusing ring 40mm, and the eyecup 38.5mm in diameter.
