Carl Schütz Cassel 15x40

Wie alle Schütz Cassel Gläser hat auch dieses 15x40 ein Porro-2-Prismensystem, das sich nach Abschrauben eines messingen Überwurfrings am unteren Gehäuseboden samt Bodenplatte herausziehen lässt. Wie im Bild zu sehen ist die Prismenhalterung auf der Bodenplatte mit einem 6cm langen Abstandrohr montiert. Der obere feste Gehäusedeckel ist mit "15x PERPLEX Carl Schütz Cassel DRP." beschriftet. Die ehemals schwarze Lackierung ist zu großen Teil abgeblättert, die Beschriftung schwer zu lesen. Das Glas stammt aus der Zeit vor dem 1. Weltkrieg. Die Optik ist daher unvergütet. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit, das Okularstück ist schwarz lackiert und hat eine umlaufende Dioptrienskala mit Kennzeichnungen von +5 bis -5. Die Aluminiumtubusteile sind mit braunem Leder ummantelt. Oben am Gehäuse ist eine kleine Trageriemenöse angeschraubt. Die Messung der Objektivlinsen ergibt einen tatsächliche Öffnung von nur 38mm.

This 15x38 monocular has a porro 2 prism system like all ohter Carl Schütz glasses. The prism system – mounted on a plate and a 6cm distance tube – can be pulled out for servicing when unscrewing a brass retainer ring from the bottom of the housing (s. pic). The fixed top cover plate is marked "15x PERPLEX Carl Schütz Cassel DRP.", although this is hardly readable any more, because most of the black paint is lost. The mmonoculkar dates from before WWI. Hence its optics are uncoated. The eyecup is made of Bakelite, the eyepiece still is lacquered black. It has a dioptre division scale all around the tube marked from +5 to -5. The aluminium parts of the housing and objective tube are covered with brown leather. A small strap lug is screwed to the upper part of the housing. Measuring the objective lens, its aperture is really only 38mm.

Das Monokular ist 23,2 bis 24cm lang, dabei ist der konische Objektivtubs ca. 10cm lang, das Prismengehäuse ca. 9,5cm. Die Durchmesser der Monokularteile betragen: Augenmuschel 34mm, Fokussierungsstück 25mm, Okulartubus 21mm, Gehäuse 50mm, Objektivtubus 27-44mm. Das Glas wiegt 369g.

The monocular is 23.2 to 24cm tall. The conical objective tube measures about 10cm, the housing 9.5cn. The dimaeters of the parts are: eyecup 34mm, focusing part 25mm, ocular tube 21mm, housing 50mm, objective tube 27-44mm. Weight is 369g.
