Der obere Deckel mit der Kennzeichnung der Firma, der Vergrößerung "x8½" sowie der Seriennummer 24827 weist aufgrund der Vergrößerungsangabe auf eine Zeit um den 1. Weltkrieg hin, wobei am unteren Deckel die Zahl 1908 auch die konkrete Jahreszahl angeben könnte. Daneben befindet sich am unteren Deckel der "crow's foot" und die Nummer 4350. Beide Messingdeckel sind schwarz lackiert und vierfach verschraubt. Das Gehäuse ist lederummantelt und hat eine aufgeschraubte lange Metalllippe mit Trageriemenösen an beiden Enden, wobei am oberen Ende eine Knopflasche angebracht ist. Das rechtsseitige Okular hat eine umlaufende Dioptrienskala mit Beschriftungen bei +5, Null und -5. | The Ross monocular with a 20mm objective has an unusual magnification of 8½x (8.5 times).
