Ross 7x50 Monocular Gunsight

Eines der für die Britische Marine gefertigten Kanonen-Zielfernrohre (monocular gunsight) mit 7x50 Spezifikation ist das von Ross London hergestellte Visier mit militärischer Einordnung "Patt. G353a". Das Prismengehäuse ist auch mit dem "broad arrow" sowie einem "W" daneben "A" über "T" und No 115851 gekennzeichnet. Diese Exemplar hat einen blanken Messingtubus und ein grün lackiertes Prismengehäuse. Die Lackierung überdeckt evtl. weiter Beschriftungen, wie das "7x50"; denn andere Exemplare mit schwarzer Lackierung haben auch das NPL Prüfkennezichen der National Physical Laboratories. Am Porro-2-Prismengehäuse befindet eine Halterung für eine Beleuchtungsbirne für die Fadenkreuz-Strichplatte sowie ein Einlass für ein Trocknungsgerät. Vor dem Okular gibt es einen Dioptrieneinstellhebel mit Dioptirenskala auf einemr Halbkreisscheibe.

One of the gunsights made for the British Royal Navy with a 7x50 specification is the monocular made by Ross London with military pattern "G353a". The prism housing is also marked with the broad arrow, a letter "W" a well "A" above "T" and No. 115851. This model has a polished brass barrel and green painted prism housing. Das Zielfernrohr wurde in einer Kiste transportiert. Als Zubehör gibt es eine Messing-Abdeckkappe für das Objektiv und einen vor das Okular einhakbaren und wegklappbaren Filtersatz. Dieser ist beidäugig ausgelegt, so dass er je nachdem für linksäugien oder rechtsäugige Nutzung geeignet ist. Der zweite Filterteil kann als Blindokular genutzt werden. Die Halterung hat ein Filterrad mit gelben und grauen Filter oderr offener sowie geschlossener Stellung.

The gunsight came in a carrying case. Some accessories are a brass protection cover for the obejctive and a filter glass attachment. This attachment can be hooked onto the eyepiece and swung aside if needed. The filter attachment is made for two eyes so that you can attach it either for left or right eye use. The second filter part functions as a blind eyepiece then. The attachment has yellow and grey filters or an open and closed position.

Das Prisemn-Fernrohr wiegt 4778g, der Schutzdeckel 79g und der Filtervorsatz 640g. Der Messingtubus ist 225mm lang und 90mm im Duzrchmesser. Die Objektivlinse ist um ca. 38mm nach innen vesetzt, so dass der Tubus eine Sonnenblende bietet. Die Gesamtlänge ist ca. 35cm. Dass Prismengehäuse ist 65mm lang und 95mm im Durchmesser. Das Okularstück ist 53mm im Durchmesser. Der Filtervorsatz misst 17x11x2cm.

The objective lens is recessed by about 38mm so that the tube end is forming a rayshade. Overall length is about 35cm. The prism housing is 65mm long and 95mm in diameter.
