Pallas 8x

Das mit "Pallas 8x" bezeichnete Fernglas hat nur ein Objektiv, welches oval 51x44mm ist. Aufgrund der vergüteten Optik stammt es ca. aus den 1970-80er Jahren. An der Objektivunterseite ist der Herstellercode "JB-157" eingraviert. Dieser steht für die Firma "Kuroki Kogaku Kogyo Co. Ltd.". An der Oberseite steht außer der Modellbezeichnung "E.P. 19 COATED No. 1648". Ein baugleiches "Giraffe 10x" ist ebenfalls bekannt (s. letztes Foto).
Die Metallteile sind schwarz lackiert, das Gehäuse mit strukturiertem Hartgummi ummantelt. Das Glas arbeitet mit einem Porro-1-System. Der Augenabstand kann geringfügig durch Drehen eines Rades an der Unterseite des Gehäuses verstellt werden. Die Okulare lassen sich zum Fokussieren drehen, wobei der Dioptrienbereich von + bis -2 markiert ist.

This binocular named "Pallas 8x" has only one objective which measures 51x44mm as an oval. Due to its coated optics this glass was made about the 1970-80s. There is a maker's code at the bottom of the objective frame: "JB-157" which stands for "Kuroki Kogaku Kogyo Co. Ltd.". Besides the model name the top is marked "E.P. 19 COATED No. 1648". A "Giraffe 10x" of the same design is known (see last picture).
The metal parts are lacquered black. The housing is covered with a textured hard rubber. The glass has a porro 1 system. The interpupillary distance can be adjusted by turning a wheel at the body of the housing. The oculars can be turned for focusing. The dioptre adjustment is marked from + to - 2-

Das Pallas wiegt 685g. Es ist 15-16cm lang. Das Gehäuse ist 65x11mm breit. Das Objektivteil ist 69x63 breit. Die Okularstücke sind 30mm, die Fokussierungsringe 41mm und die Augenmuscheln 37mm im Durchmesser.
