Monocular Prismatic N^o1 Mk. 1

Mit der Nummer 12 ist dies eines der sehr frühen, wenn nicht sogar ersten Monokulare für die Britische Armee mit der Bezeichnung "Mono(cular) Pris(matic)" und Klassifizierung "No. 1 M(ar)k 1". Es ist ein 8x30 (rechnerisch 8,5x30) Monokular mit einer Okulargeradführung, die eher auf eine französische Produktion als eine Britische schließen lässt, da dies bei Britischen Herstellern nicht gebräuchlich war. Das Messingokular, - objektiv und -deckel waren einst schwarz lackiert. Der obere Deckel hat zwei Schrauben, der untere drei. Am unteren Deckel ist auch der "broad arrow" eingraviert sowie gespiegelt in dünneren Gravurlinien. Dies bedeutet, dass das Glas den Anforderungen der Britischen Armee entsprach und Verwendung fand, später vom Militär wieder verkauft wurde. Das Aluminiumgehäuse hat eine eingegossene Trageriemenöse und ist mit Leder ummantelt. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit. Das linksseitige Okular hat eine umlaufende Dioptrienstrichskala mit Kennzeichnung bei Null und +/- Fünf.

Being marked number 12 this is one of the early, if not even one of the first monoculars made for the british Army and having the designation "Mono(cular) Pris(matic)" and the classification "No. 1 M(ar)k 1". It is a 8x30 monocular - calculating, it is a 8.5x30. It has a linear movement of the ocular which hints to a FRench production than a British, because this construction feature was not used by British makers. The brass eyepiece, objective tube and cover plates once were lacquered black. The top cover has two, the botom cover has three screws.The lower cover plate is also engraved with the broad arrow, adn opposing three mirrored thinenr lines. This meant that the glas passed the Briths Army conditions and was used by the military, and was later sold by the army. The aluminium hosuing has a cast-in strap-lug and a leather covering. The eyecup is amde of Bakelite. The left-hand sided eyepeice has a ful ldioptre scale with amrkings at zero and +/- five.

Das Mono Pris ist 126mm lang und am Gehäuse oben 53x53mm und unten 59x63mm breit. Der Objektivtubus ist 38mm, das Okularstück 26mm, der Fokussierungsring 32,5mm und die Augenmuschel 36,5mm im Durchmesser. Es wiegt 333g.
