MA Berlin Monokular
| Das kleine lederummantelte Monokular hat die Werte 4x20 (s. Deckel) und die Initialien M überlappend über einem A in einem Oval eingraviert. Darunter steht Berlin. Der Hersteller ist nicht bekannt. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit und das rechtsseitige Okular hat einen Dioptrienausgleich von -/+5. Es hat eine angeschraubte Trageriemenöse. Die äußere Erscheinung und Bauart lässt auf eine Fabrikation in den 1920er schließen. Es wurde mit einer gefütterten Schachtel geliefert, wie es auch auf andere 4x20 Modelle der Zeit zutrifft. Teilweise waren diese vermutlich Überschussproduktionen aus dem 1. Weltkrieg. Ob "MA" daher für Militärarsenal sthet bleibt spekulativ. | This small leather covered monocular is marked with 4x20 at the top cover; furthermore the initials M over A (overlapping) set into an oval are ngraved, below this it says "Berlin". The maker is unknown. The eyecup is made of Bakelite. The right-hand sided ocular has a dioptre scale ranging from + to - 5. It has a screwed-on strap-lug. Its outwards appearance and construction lets assume that it was made in the 1920s. It was sold with a small cushioned case, a way other 4x20 models opf that time were offered, too. These may partly have been surplus from WWI. Whether the "MA" marking stands for "military arsenal" is still uncertain. |
