US M1 Aiming Circle 4x16 Sight
| Das 4fach Visier ist Teil des amerikanischen Richtkreis M1. Das blau vergütete Porro-1-Prismen-Monokular allein (abgesägt von den Halterung) ist am oberen dreifach verschraubte Deckel mit "CIRCLE, AIMING, M1 No. 15289 - F.J.A. - E.K. Co. - 1943" bzw. beim kompletten Exemplar mit "CIRCLE, AIMING, M1 No. 9822 - F.M. - E.K. Co. - 1942". Das olivgrün lackierte Gehäuse und die Nivelliereinheit mit Teilenummern beschriftet. Das Visier hat eine angegossene Libellen-Wasserwaage zum horizontalen Einnivellieren. Das 16mm Objektiv lässt sich mit einem Exenterring justieren. Das Okular hat einen kreuzweise geriffelten Fokussierungsring mit Geradführung des Okularsystems. Die eingebaute Strichplatte hat ein Fadenkreuz mit 80er Teilung in beide Richtungen. Zur Beleuchtung kann links vom Okular eine kleine Beleuchtungseinheit aufgesteckt werden (Stromversorgung über eine Batterie am Stativ, s. Schemazeichnung). Die flache gerade Gehäuseunterseite hat eine elfenbein-farbene Lackierung, die entweder Licht zum Kompassglas reflektieren soll oder einmal phosphorisierend war. Das Sehfeld ist 10°. | This 4 power sight is part of the US M1 aiming circle. The blue coated poro 1 prism monocular on its own (sawn off of its trunion mounts) is marked on its top cover having three screws "CIRCLE, AIMING, MI No. 15289 - F.J.A. - E.K. Co. - 1943", and on a compelte instrument "CIRCLE, AIMING, M1 No. 9822 - F.M. - E.K. Co. - 1942". Te olive-grre hosuing and the leveling unit have part numbers. The sight comes with a cast-in spirit level for horizontal adjustment. The 16mm objective can be adjusted with an excentric ring. The eyepiece has linear movement, and its focusing ring has a cross-wise knurling. The built-in reticle has cross-hairs with an 80s division in both directions. For its illumination a small lighting unit can be slipped onto the left-hand side near the eyepeice (power supply by means of a battery attached to one tripod leg, cf. drawing). The flat bottom side of the body is lacquered with some cream colour which either is supposed to reflect light into the compass department or was once phosphorescent. The field of view is 10°. |
| Das Monokular lässt sich in der Gabelhalterung mit einem okularseitigem Rad vertikal justieren. Der Richtkreis hat einen Kompass zur Nord-Ausrichtung des Instruments. An der Okularseite ist dafür ein Einblick; die Kompassnadel kann mit einem Knopf (rot) aretiert werden. Die Richtkreisskala geht zum einen von 0-32, zum andern von 0-64 (6400er mils Teilung) und kann mit einem Drehrad (Schneckgewinde innen) azimuthal eingestellt werden. Dabei hat der linke Skalenknopf eine Skaleneinteilung von 100 und eine 2. kürzere Skala. Mit einem Hebel bei dem Skalenrad, kann die Gewindeschnecke vom Zahnrad abgehoven werden, so dass eine Schnellverstellung möglich wird. Der Richkreisfuß mit der Stativklemmschraube lässt sich ebenfalls mit einer Radstange horizontal justieren. Im Kompassgehäuse befindet sich eine Blasen-Wasserwaage. | The monocualr can be adjustet vertically in its trunion mount by turning a knob on the eyepeice side. The aiming circle has a compass for north direction. There is a round window sight for checking this. The comnpass needle can be clamped with a small red knob. There are two circle scales: one from 0-32, another from 0-64 (6400 mils division). These can be adjusted azimuthally with a wheel (worm thread inside). The left adjsutment knob comes with two scales, one ranging from 0 to 100. A lever losens the worm thread from the cogwheel inside allowing a quick horizontal postiioning. The aiming circle base with its tripod clamp screw can also be adjusted horizontally with two wheel knobs. There is a bubble level inside the compas department. |

Das Monokular wiegt 226g. Der Richtkreis wiegt komplett 1826g und ist ca. 13cm hoch und 10x12cm breit. | The sight on it s own is 73mm long. The housing measures 36x50mm, and is 41mm long. The eyepiece is 22mm, the focusing ring 25mm in diameter. The objective frame is 26mm in diameter. The monocular weighs 226g. The wholöe aiming cirvle weihgs 1826g and is about 13cm tall and 10x12cm wide. |
