LZ127 8x30

This porro 1 monocular is engraved with "LZ 127" on its top cover apart from its optical specifications. This is the abbreviation for the airship Zeppelin 127, which was named "Graf Zeppelin" (Count Zeppelin) serving from 1928 until 1937. Because there are no testimonials in pictures or documents of monoculars being on board besides the binoculars, it remains uncertain whether this monocular was really made for or carried on board the airship or whether the inscriptions were engraved later on a uncaoted monocular matching that time to increase its value or the attractiveness for collectors at all.
The construction features do not allow to specify it as a model of a certain maker by now. The black painted top cover plate made of aluminium has three, the bottom cover only one screw. The screwed-in brass objective frame has a black painted cover tube scrwed over it. The body has a cast-in strap lug and a dark brwon ebonite covering. The left-hand sided eyepiece has a unnumbered dioptre scale ranging from plus to minus four and a plastic eyecup. The focusing ring comes with acrosswise diagonal knurling.

The 8x30 is 101-109mm long.
