E. Leitz 8x30

Das 8x30 Prismen-Monokular ist noch nur mit "E. Leitz Wetzlar" und "8x" auf dem oberen Deckel und ohne Seriennummer beschriftet. Dies lässt auf eine Produktionszeit vor oder während des 1. Weltkriegs - evtl. militärische Modellversion - schließen. Die Gehäuseform ohne stärkere Ausbuchtung zum Objektiv hin erscheint in den Katalogen ab ca. 1914 bei "Binomon" Ferngläsern; das Monokular wäre dann das Modell "Monomon"
Das Messinggehäuse ist schwarz lackiert und mit braunem Leder ummantelt. Mehrere Stellen sind mit Grünspan besetzt. Die Augenmuschel aus Bakelit hat eine Messingfassung innen zum Aufschrauben auf das Okular. Die Dioptrienskala ist mit + bis - 5 markiert, läuft aber um das ganze Okular herum. Der Okulartubus hat innen einen Blendschutz, der bis kurz vor das Porroprisma reicht. Beide Deckel sind dreifach verschraubt. 		This 8x30 prism monocular is still only marked "E. Leitz Wetzlar" and "8x" on the top cover without any serial number. This fact hints to a production time before or during WWI - probably a military model version. The shape of the housing without a characteristically protruding side next to the objective appears since 1914 as a Binomon binoculars in a catalogue. The monocular model then was named "Monomon".
The brass housing is lacquered black and covered with a brown leather. Ther is verdigris in some spots. The Bakelite eye-cup has a brass thread inside to be screwed to the ocular. The dioptre scale ranges from plus to minus 5, running all around the tube. The eye-piece has some ray-shade aattached to it which reaches almost to the porro prism. Both covers are fixed by 3 screws.

Das Glas wiegt 300g. Das Gehäuse ist ca. 52x52mm, das gesamte Glas 12,2 - 12,6cm lang. The glass weighs 300g. The housing is ca. 52x52mm wide, and the total length is 12.2-12.6cm.

Andere Modelle, die nur mit "8x" gekennzeichnet sind, haben ein Leitz Logo und Seriennummern. Ein Modell hat noch eine angeschraubte Trageriemenöse (Ser.nr. 116881 ?),weitere bekannte Exemplare bereits eingegossene Ösen (Ser.nr. 122376 und 128812). Further models that are only marked "8x" come with a Leitz logo and a serial number. One model (ser.nr. 116881 ?)still has a screwed on strap lug, other lnown specimen have cast-in strap lugs (ser.nr. 122376 und 128812).
