kwc 4x 15° - Gamma Budapest

Zielfernrohr

Dieses monokulare Fernrohr ist eine Art Zielvisier oder Peilfernrohr, wahrscheinlich für Schiffe (typische graue Lackierung) und wurde im 2. Weltkrieg hergestellt; das abgebildete kwc-Modell ist von "Gamma Budapest", das bmk-Modell (Bild 5) von "Srb & Stys Prag". Es ähnelt den Doppelfernrohren mit 4x Vergrößerung und Weitwinkel-Sehfeld von 15° (s. Seeger "Militärische ...", S. 299), scheint aber nicht komplett identisch.
Die weitere Beschriftung auf der Okularseite ist "DZC/2" sowie eine Seriennummer "0232" beim kwc und "136054" sowie "M N" beim bmk. Außerdem gibt es die Kennzeichnung "T", was bedeutet, dass die Linsen bereits mit T-Belag beschichtet sind. Die Weichgummiaugenmuschel lässt sich wegklappen, das Okular hat ein Fadenkreuz und mittels eines Hebels lassen sich 2 Filter einschwenken. Die Oberseite hat ein Kimme-und-Korn-Enrichtung und ist mit "Nicht druckdicht" markiert, was wiederum auf eine Verwendung in der Seefahrt, aber eben nicht bei U-Booten, hinweist. Die Unterseite hat eine Schwalbenschwanzmontierung, welche vierfach am Gehäuse verschraubt ist.
Das abgedichtete runde Gehäuse beinhaltet ein Porro-1-Prismensystem, während die Doppelfernrohre 4x20 Porro II Prismen hatten (s. Seeger, "Militärische Ferngläser ...", S. 299; "Zeiss 1918-1945" S. 388ff).

Target Sight

This monocular scope is a kind of a gun-sight or bearing sight, probably for ships (typical grey paint covering). It was made during WWII. The 'kwc' coded model here was made by "Gamma Budapest", the 'bmk' coded model by "Srb & Stys Prague". It resemble the binoculars D.F. 4x with wide angle field of view of 15° (s. Seeger "Militärische ...", p. 299), but is not completely identical.
Further markings at the ocular end are "DZC/2" as well as serial number "0232" for the kwc and "136054" plus "M N" for the bmk. There also is a "T" marking, denoting the T-Belag lens coating. The soft rubber eyecup can be flipped aside. The ocular is supllied with a cross-hairs reticle and two filters can be swung in by turning a lever. The top comes with a notch and bead, and is marked "Nicht druckdicht", meaning not pressure-tight, also hinting at a naval use, and thus not suitable for U-boats. There is a dove-tail mount attached with four screws at the lower housing's side.
The sealed round housing contains a porro 1 prism system, while the binoculars 4x20 had porro II prisms (see Seeger, "Militärische Ferngläser ...", S. 299; "Zeiss 1918-1945" S. 388ff).

Aufgrund des dicken Metallgussgehäuses wiegt das 4x Fernrohr 2,575 kg. Es ist 9cm lang vom Okular bis zum Objektivende und 12cm hoch zwischen der Montierung und Visiereinrichtung. Der Gehäusedurchmesser ist 98mm. Die Objektivlinse ist 26mm, die Fassung ca. 48mm im Durchmesser. Das Okular ist 35mm im Durchmesser, die Linse selbst ebenfalls 26mm, die 26mm hohe Augnemuschel ist ca. 50mm im Durchmesser. Die Schwalbenschwanzmontierung ist 60mm, die Visiereinrichtung 75mm lang.

Due to its thick metal construction the sight weighs 2.575 kg. It is 9cm long - ocular to objective, and 12cm tall - mounting to notch and bead. The diameter of the housing is 98mm, the objective lens measures 26mm, whereas its frame is 48mm in diameter. The ocular is 35mm, the ocular lens itself 26mm, and the 26mm tall eyecup is c. 50mm in diameter. The dove-tail mount measures 60mm, the bearing device 75mm in length.
