A. Hurlimann 8x30 Monocular

Dieses Monokular aus Vollmessing stammt von dem Pariser Instumentenbauer A. Hurlimann. Wahrscheinlich stammt das Monokular von einem Theodoliten (evtl. 1900, s. LA GAZETTE DE GEOMUSEE) und wäre mit 550g als reines Monokular ohnehin sehr schwer zum Halten und Transportieren. Der obere Deckel trägt die Inschrift "A. Hurlimann - Ponthus & Therrode - successeurs - Paris". Das Smithonians National Museum of American History berichtet über die Firma auf der Website: "A. Hurlimann war ein Pariser Hersteller mathematischer Instrumente, der in den frühen 1890ern die Werkstatt Lorieux's übernahm und von Ponthus & Therrode ein paar Jahre später gefolgt wurde. Die Gehäusedose hat die Nummer "No. 81". Der untere Deckel ist schwarz lackiert. Das Okular hat eine Geradführung und die drehbare Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit. Die Dioptrienskala ist zwischne plus 10 und minus 10 markiert. Wie das huet8x20ronde.htmHuet 8x20 hat das Hurlimann Monokular ein zylindrisches Prismengehäuse, bei dem sich untern ein Überwurfring abschrauben lässt und dann der gesamte Prismenstuhl mit dem Porro-1-Prismensystem herausnhemen lässt.

This monocular is made of solid brass by the Parisian instrument maker A. Hurlimann. The monocular probably was part of a theodolite (around 1900, s. LA GAZETTE DE GEOMUSEE). As a mere monocular it would have been very heavy to carry weighing 550g. The top cover is marked "A. Hurlimann - Ponthus & Therrode - successeurs - Paris". The Smithonians National Museum of American History says on its website: "A. Hurlimann was a mathematical instrument maker in Paris who took over Lorieux's shop in the early 1890s and was succeeded by Ponthus & Therrode a few years later". The prism box has "No. 81" engraved. The lower cover is lacquered black. The ocula r has linear movement while focusing, and its turnalbe eyecup is made of Bakelite. The dioptre scale ranges from plus to minus ten. Like the huet8x20ronde.htmHuet 8x20 the Hurlimann Monocular has a cylindrical prism housing with an unscrewable retainer ring at its bottom so that you can detach the whole prism chair with its porro 1 prism system.

Das 8x30 Monokular ist 14,4 bis 15cm lang. Der Objektivtubus ist 42mm lang, hat zunächst einen 33mm Durchmesser und beim zweiten Teil, der Linsenfassung einen 38mm Durchmesser. Die Okularhülse ist 23mm, der Fokussierungsteil 30mm und die Augenmuschel 38mm im Durchmesser. Die Prismengehäusedose ist 52mm hoch und hat einen Durchmesser von 50mm, wobei der Überwurfring 53mm misst.

The 8x30 monocular is 14.4 to 15cm long. The objective tube is 42mm in length, starts with a 33mm diameter and ends with 38mm in diameter at its lens frame. The ocular tube is 23mm, the focusing piece 30mm and the eyecup 38mm in diameter. The prism box is 52mm tall and has a diameter of 50mm, wheras the retainer ring measures 53mm.
