Hughes & Son Ltd, London existierteen von 1828 bis 1947, als sie mit Kelvin Bottomley & Baird Ltd zu Kelvin & Hughes fusionierten. Das vorliegende 6x30 Monokular mit entsprechender Firmenbeschriftung, optischen Werten und Seriennummer 58154 wurde vermutlich zwischen dem 1. und 2. Weltkrieg für einen ihrer Sextanten gefertigt, da an der Objektivfassung ein drehbarer Ring mit einem Stab mit Schraubloch befindet, welcher zur Anbringung am sextanten diente. Das 6x30 hat die typische Form eins Porro-1-Monokulars mit linksseitigem Okular und Kunststoffaugenmuschel sowie einer Hartgummiummantelung und eingegossener Trageriemenöse. Der Dioptrienausgleich reicht von + bis - 5. Der obere Deckel ist zwiefach, der untere dreifach verschraubt.

The shown 6x30 monocular with the corresponding company inscription, optical values and serial number 58154 was probably made between the World War I and II for one of their sextants, since the objective frame has a rotatable ring with a rod with a screw hole, which was used to attach it to the sextant. The 6x30 has the typical shape of a Porro 1 monocular with a left-hand sided eyepiece and plastic eyecup, as well as a hard rubber covering and a cast-in strap lug.
