Hensoldt 12x20 Porro 1

This porro 1 monocular is marked "M. Hensoldt & Söhne Wetzlar" on the top cover, and marked "12x" as well as "6990" on the bottom cover. The type of maker's name and the monocular's design with a flat aluminium cover painted black hint to a early porro model by Hensoldt from about 1910. The Bakelite 2/3 eyecup looks like a Hensoldt piece, but it is pushed over the turning ocular part – you can still see a thread for the eyecup at the rim of the ocular lens frame. There is a "3" engraved in the eyecup's side. The left-hand sided ocular has afull dioptre scale, the housing has a cast-in strap lug and a brown leather covering.

The 12x21 glass wieghs 177g. It is 105-114mm lang depending on focusing adjustment.
