Goerz Trieder-Monocle 8x

Dieses 8x20 Triëder Monocle ist vermutlich eine Armee-Modell-Version für den Export nach Großbritannien, USA und andere Länder (ca. 1905-1908). Es ist so in deutschsprachigen Katalogen nicht aufgeführt; entspricht ungef. dem DF.03 8x20. Es weist noch den sich leicht nach oben verjüngenden Korpus mit brauner Lederummantelung, halblangen zweifach angeschraubter Trageriemenöse der frühen Triëder auf, hat sonst aber ein rechtsseitiges Drehokular mit rotierender Augenmuschel, so dass es beim Fokussieren nicht vom Auge genommen werden muss, und mit einer umlaufenden Dioptrienskala, markiert bei null und Fünf, sowie mit einem schmaleren kreuz-geriffelten Fokussierungsring. Die schwarz lackierten Messingdeckel sind dreifach verschraubt. Der obere Deckel ist mit "Triëder Monocle 8x, C.P. Goerz Berlin, D.R.G.M." und dem Initialen-Emblem graviert; der untere Deckel trägt die Seriennummer 142627, wodurch sich das Monokular auf ca. 1908 datieren lässt.

This 8x20 Triëder Monocle probably is an Army Model for export to Great Britain, the USA and other countries (c. 1905-1908). This version is not listed in German catalogues; it comes close to the DF.03 8x20. It still comes with its slightly tapered body with a brown leather covering, half-long strap-lug attached with two screws, but else has a right-hand-sided turnable ocular with a rotatable eyecup which allows to leave the monocular at one's eye while focusing. It also has a full dioptre scale which is marked at zero and five, and a narrower cross-milled focusing ring. The black lacquered brass cover plates are fixed with three screws. The top cover is inscribed "Triëder Monocle 8x, C.P. Goerz Berlin, D.R.G.M." and with the initials emblem; the bottom cover has the serial number 142627 which hints to a production year about 1908.

Das 8x20 ist 110 - 119 mm lang und das Gehäuse misst oben 43x43 mm und unten 47x47 mm. Die Metalllippe der Trageriemenöse ist 35 mm lang, somit genau die Hälfte der Gehäusehöhe. Die Objektivfassung ist 24 mm im Durchmesser, die Objektivlinse ist um 10 mm nach innen zurück versetzt. Das Okularstück ist 22 mm, der Fokussierungsring 29 mm und die Augenmuschel 36 mm im Durchmesser. Das Monocle wiegt 234 g.

The 8x20 is 110 - 119 mm long and the hosuing measures 43 x 43 mm at its top and 47 x 47 mm at its bottom. The metal lip of the strap-lug is 35 mm long, which is exactly half the length of the body. The objektiv frame is 24 mm in diameter, the objective lens is recessed by 10 mm into the body. The eyepeice is 22 mm, the focusing ring is 29 mm, and the eyecup 36 mm in diameter. The Monocle weighs 234 g.
