Goerz Triëder Monocle 6x20
| Das kleine 6x20 Triëder Monocle stammt von der Jahrhundertwende (1900) und hat das Codewort "Motribus". Es hat eine Lederummantelung und Aluminiumdeckel. Die Fokussierung geschieht mittels eines 90° schwenkbaren Hebels (31mm) an der Seite. Die Deckelinschrift lautet "C. P. Goerz Berlin", die schwarze Lackierung ist abegriffen. Am Okularstück ist schwer zu entziffern "4(?)04830" zu lesen. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit. Es gibt keine Dioptrienskala. | This small 6x20 Triëder Monocle dates from the turn of the century (1900) and came with codeword "Motribus". The monocular has a leather covering and aluminium covers. Focussing is done with a brass lever (31mm) that can be moved by 90°. The cover markings are "C. P. Goerz Berlin", its blöack paint is worn off. There is atiny number scratched into the eyepiece, hardly readable: "4(?)04830". The eyecup is made of Bakelite and has no dioptre scale. |

| Das andere, hier abgebildete 6x20 Hebel-Monokular ist ziemlich abgenutzt (Macken an den Deckelrändern etc.) und hat eine vermutlich neu angebrachte Ummantelung aus grauem Leder. Der obere Deckel ist mit "C.P. Goerz" und darunter "No. 73" markiert, der Fokussierungshebel trägt die Seriennummer 58403 (= Herstellungsjahr 1904), der untere Deckel hat Kennzeichnungen vom britischen Militär "3rd S C", darunter der doppelte (sternförmige) Krähenfuß oder 'broad arrow confronté' und "T1", wobei der 2. ergänzte broad arrow bedeutet, dass das Glas vom militär wieder verkauft wurde. Die Augenmuschel fehlt. Ein weiteres Exemplar hat die Nr. 35 und wurde nachträglich mit "Mon. Pris. No.1 Mk I" am oberen Deckel beschriftet. Ob es tatsächlich von der Britischen Armee benutzt wurde, lässt sich nicht genau feststellen, da die möglichen Regimentsbezeichnungen am unteren Deckel oder ein "broad arrow" dort nicht mehr richtig lesbar sind bzw. ausgekratzt wurden. Am Hebel steht die Produktions-Nr. 58350. |
The other 6x20 lever-focusing monocular depicted here is quite worn with dings at the cover püalte rims, and a later fitted grey leather covering. The top cover is marked "C.P. Goerz" and "No. 73" below, the lever is stamped with serial number 58403 (= 1904 as year of production), the lower cover was inscribed by the British Army "3rd S C", and below a double corw's foot or 'broad arrow confronté' und "T1". The second added boad arrow means that the glass was sold by the army as surplus. The eyecup is missing. Another piece bears No- 35 and was inscribed "Mon. Pris. No.1 Mk I" at its top cover. Whether this model was really used by the British Army is not too certain, as the bottom amrkings which might gibe the regiment number and probably abroad arrow are very unclear or scratched over severely. The lever is marked with serial number 58350. |
