Ernemann 8x40

Ein seltenes Exemplar des 8x40 Modells der Ernemann Werke Dresden. Es dürfte aus den 20er Jahren des 20. Jh. stammen, da die Produktionszeit für Ferngläser bei Ernemann eh nur zwischen 1913 und 1925 stattfand. Der obere Deckel ist mit "Ernemann-Werke AG Dresden" und dem Firmenlogo beschriftet, der untere Deckel trägt die Aufschrift "8x40" und die Seriennummer "987838". Nahe am Objektivtubus wurde per Hand das Wort "Flegel" eingeritzt. Das Monokular ist aus Aliminium mit schwsarzer Lackierung bzw. Rauhlackummantelung. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit. Der Dioptrienausgleich am rechtsseitigen Okular ist mit einer umlaufenden Skala versehen und bei +5, 0 und -5 markiert. Als Besonderheit kann gelten, dass der untere zweifach verschraubte Deckel und der Objektivtubus aus einem Blechstück gefertigt sind. Nach Abschrauben des Deckels mit Tubus lässt sich eine Aluminium-Objektivfassung mit der 40mm Linse herausschrauben. Das obere Prisma ist seitlich an eienr Seite angeschrägt, damit es im Prismenstuhl einsetzbar ist.

A rare specimen of the 8x40 model by Ernemann Werke Dresden. It must date from the 20s of the 20th centurym because the production period for Ernemann binoculars was only from 1913 to 1925. The top cover plate is inscribed with the firm's logo and "Ernemann-Werke AG Dresden". The bottom cover plate is marked "8x40", below serial number 987838. Moreover, someone scratched the word "Flegel" (= lout, rascal) on the cover plate near the objective tube. The monocular is made of aluminium with a black lacquering and a crinkle paint covering at the housing. It ahs a Bakelite eyecup and a dioptre scale running around the right-hand sided ocular marked at +5, 0 and -5. A special feature is that the bottom cover plate and the ocular tube is made from one piece of tin. After usncrewing the plate and tube, there is a aluminium objective frame with its 40mm lens. The upper prism is sloped at one of the longer sides, so that it fits into the prism chair.

Das 8x40 wiegt 280g. Es ist zwischen 12 und 13cm lang. Das Gehäuse ist oben 46x54mm und unten 53x60mm breit und 61mm hoch. Der Objektivtubus ist 46mm, das Okular 20mm - am Fokussierungsring 25mm -und an der Augenmuschel 33mm im durchmesser.

The 8x40 weighs 280g. It is between 12 and 13 cm long. The housing measures 46x54mm at its top and 53x60mm at its bottom, being 61mm tall. The objective tube is 46mm, the eyepiece 20mm - 25mm at the focusing part - and the eyecup 33mm in diameter.
