Dollond 10x50

Ein in den 1950-60er Jahren von Dollond hergestelltes Monokular ist das "Owldex" 10x50 Modell. Die Modellnamen mit "Owl..." beziehen sich auf das Eulen-Logo von Aitchison, mit denen Dollond fusioniert war. Das Aluminium-Monokular hat die typische Porro-1-Prismen-Bauform mit einem Raulack-ummantelten Gehäuse mit eingegossener Trageriemenöse und einem kurzen konischen Tubus. Die eingeschraubte Objektivfassung ist mit einer schwarz lackierten Hülse verblendet. Die Deckel sind einfach verschraubt. Das linksseitige Okularstück hat eine 1/3 Augenmuschel aus Kunststoff, einen vertikal geriffe3lten Fokussierungsteil und eine Dioptrienskala von plus bis minus fünf. Die Optik ist blau vergütet. Das Owldex wurde in einem Lederköcher geliefert. Der obere Deckel trägt die kaum noch lesbare Beschriftung "Dollond London Owldex 10x50" (jedes Wort in einer Zeile) und der untere hat die Seriennummer 172486.

The "Owldex" 10x50 is a monocular manufactured by Dollond during the 1950s and 1960s. Model names beginning with "Owl..." refer to the owl logo of Aitchison, a company with which Dollond had merged. This aluminum monocular has the classic Porro I prism design, with a housing finished in crinkle paint—incorporating a cast-in strap lug—and a short, conical tube. The scrwed-in objective lens frame is concealed by a black-painted sleeve, and the cover plates have single screws. The eyepiece has a plastic 1/3 eyecup, a vertically knurled focusing oart, and a diopter scale ranging from plus to minus five. The optics have a blue coating. The Owldex came in a leather case. The top cover bears the barely legible inscription "Dollond London Owldex 10x50" (with each word on a separate line), while the bottom cover displays the serial number 172486.

Das Monokular ist 151-160 mm lang. Das 60mm lange Gehäuse misst oben 63x54mm und unten 57x71mm. Der 55 mm lange konische Tubus verbreitert sich von 48mm auf 62mm im Durchmesser, während die Objektivverblendungshülse ist nur 58mm im Durchmesser ist. Das Okularstücl ist 29 mm, der Fokussierungsring 34 mm und die Augenmuschel 34mm im Durchmesser. Das 10x50 wiegt 435 g.

The 55 mm long conical tube widens from 48 mm to 62 mm in diameter, while the objective lens sleeve is only 58 mm in diameter. The eyepiece is 29 mm in diameter, the focusing ring 34 mm, and the eyecup 34 mm. The 10x50 model weighs 435 g.
