Carl Zeiss Teleplast (2,5x)
| Das Carl Zeiss Jena "Teleplast" Modell war ein Fernglas mit Sprenger-Leman-Prismen entweder als 3x oder 5x20 Glas zwischen ca. 1907-11 (s. Vergleich eines binokularen Modells u. monokularen Hälfte). Hier liegt eine (rechte) Hälfte als Monokular vor. Allerdings ist die real messbaren Vergrößerung nur 2,5fach - das Okularstück entspricht in seiner Länge dem 3fch-Modell. Das original aussehnde Schild mit 6 Schrauben anstelle der Fernglasbrücke weist neben dem Zeiss-Lisnenlogo ein "5x". Beides könnte andeuten, dass das Teleplast so in der Zeiss-Werkstatt angefertigt oder ein 5x-Teleplast umgebaut wurde. Das Alugehäuse hat eine Lederummantelung und am seitlichen Deckel mit sechsfach angeschraubten Metallrahmen eine Ledereinlage. Andere Metallteiel sind schwarz lackiert. Oben am Gehäuse ist ein angeschruabte eckige Trageriemenöse. Das Okular hat eine umlaufende Dioptrienskala mit Markierungen bei Null und +/- Fünf. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Hartgummi. Das Teleplast (2,5x) erreicht einen Nahfokus von ca. 70 cm. |
The Carl Zeiss Jena "Teleplast" model was a binoculars with Sprenger-Leman prisms, either as 3x or 5x20 model, made between approximately 1907 and 1911 (see comparison of a binocular model and monocular half). Here, a (right) half is shown as a monocular. However, the actual measurable magnification is only 2.5x – the eyepiece is the same length as the 3x model. The original looking plate with six screws in place of the binocular bridge is isncribed "5x" next to the Zeiss logo. Both features could indicate that the Teleplast was manufactured in the Zeiss workshop as it was or that a 5x Teleplast was converted. The aluminium housing has a leather covering and a leather insert on the side cover with its metal frame fixed with six screws. Other metal parts are painted black. A screwed-on square strap lug is located at the top of the housing. The eyepiece has a circumferential diopter scale with markings at zero and +/- five. The eyecup is made of hard rubber. The Teleplast (2.5x) achieves a close focus of approximately 70 cm. |

Die angeschraubte Objektivfassung ist 26mm, das Okularstück ist 28,5mm, der kreuz-geriffelte Fokussierungsring (+ Riffelung) 35mm und die Augenmuschel 37mm im Durchmnesser. | Das Teleplast mit Sprenger-Leman-Prismen wurde nie als Monokular angeboten, aber in ähnlicher Bauweise bereits zuvor, zugleich und danch als Zeiss-Prismenzielfernrohre (wie Gewehr-Zielfernrohr, später TeleKipp und Teleweit u. a.) gebaut (s. hierzu die Fotos). | The Teleplast with Sprenger-Leman prisms was never offered as a monocular, but was built in a similar design before, at the same time, and after as Zeiss prism riflescopes ("Gewehr-Zielfernrohr", later as the "Telekipp" and "Teleweit" models, among others; cf. photos). |
