Carl Zeiss M.F. / Cannle 23, 45, 100x110

In keinem Zeiss Katalog dokumentiert ist das sehr große monokulare Fernrohr (M.F.) 23x 45x 100x mit einem 110mm Objektiv. Es wurde wahrscheinlich gegen Ende der 1930er Jahre von Zeiss hergestellt und als Beobachtungsfernrohr (Seeüberwachung etc.) mit der Bezeichnung M.F. für die deutsche Marine sowie als "Cannocchiale" (= Cannle) an die italienische Marine geliefert. Das existierende M.F. hat die Seriennummer 13306 (ca. 1938), das Exemplar mit italienischer Kennzeichnung hat die Nr. 208571 (vermutl. 1940er/2. Wk.) sowie "R. Marina Jtaliana 9" auf dem 5fach verschraubten Prismengehäusedeckel eingraviert; "R. Marina" steht für "Regia Marina", d.h. köngiliche Marine. Die Nr. 9 könnte bedeuten, dass es von dem monokulare Fernrohr zumindestens 9 Exemplare für die italienische Marine gab. Bei einem weiteren bekannten Exemplar ist bislang die Beschriftung nicht mehr zu entziffern. Die italienischen Versionen haben einen seitlich angebrachten Quadranten zur Ablesung der Deklination. No Zeis catalogue lists this large monocular telescope 23x 45x 100x with a 110mm objective lens. It was probably made at the end of the 1930s by Zeiss as a long range obbservation telescope (sea surveillance etc.) with the designation M.F. (abbrev. "Monokulares Fernrohr" = German: monocular telescope) for the German Navy and as "Cannocchiale" (= Cannle) for the Italian Navy. The M.F. model has the serial number 13306 (c. 1938), the model with the Italian markings has the serial nubmer 208571 (maybe 1940s/WW II.) as well as being inscribed "R. Marina Jtaliana 9" onb the prism hosuing cover having 5 screws; "R. Marina" stands for "Regia Marina", i.e. Royal Navy. The number 9 may denote that at least 9 monocualrs of this model were supplied to the Italian Navy. The markings on another known specimen cannot yet be deciphered. The ITalian versions come with a quadrant a the side of the yoke to read off the elevation.

Wie andere Zeiss Aussichtsfernrohre (vgl. Starmor, Asem, Asimara, Asimila) hat das große M.F. ein Okularrevolver mit 3 Vergrößerungen, ein Prismengehäuse mit Porro-2-System, ein Visier, eine für die Zeit in den 30ern bei Zeiss übliche Gabelmontierung und bei diesem Modell eine feste Sonnenblende. Die Tuben und Gehäuse sind schwarz lackiert, die Augenmuscheln sind aus Hartgummi. Die Okulare haben jeweils einen Dioptrienausgleich zum Fokussieren. Just like other Zeiss look-out telescopes (cf. Starmor, Asem, Asimara, Asimila) the large M.F. has an eyepiece turret with three powers , a prism housing with a porro II system, an aiming sight, a yoke mount as made by Zeiss at that time in the '30s, and for this model a fixed sunshade. The tubes and hosuings are lacquered black and the eyecups are made of ebonite. Each eyepiece has a dioptre adjustment for focusing.

Das monokulare Fernrohr ist je nach verwendetem Okular und Fokussierung 123-131cm lang und 14,4 kg schwer. Das 73cm lange Prismengehäuse ist 128mm im Durchmesser. Der Tubusansatz für den Okularrevolver ist 60mm, der Okularrevolver selbst 82mm im Durchmesser. Die Durchmesser der Okularstücke, deren Fokussierungsringe und deren Augenmuschel sind jeweils: 47mm, 52mm und 34mm beim 23x; 29mm, 33,5mm und 33,5mm beim 45x; 27mm, 35mm und 34mm beim 100x Okular. Der 105cm lange konische Tubus startet bei 80mm im Durchmesser und endet bei 140mm im Durchmesser. Die Stativgabel ist ca. 17cm breit und 24cm hoch. Das Stativ benötigt einen 42mm Zapfen. Der gerade Objektivtubus ist 16cm lang und die Linse um 10cm hinein liegend als Blendschutz montiert. Der Visiserdorn ist 39mm hoch. The straight objective tube is 16cm long and its lens retracted by 10cm forming a sunshade. The sight pin is 39mm tall.

Der Quadrant hat einen Radius von 85mm. Er ist von -22 bis +85 Strich markiert. An der Stativgabel befindet sich eine Platte mit der entsprechenden Referenzmarke zum Ablesen der Deklination. Wird das Fernrohr komplett nach unten geschwenkt verhindert ein in einem 25mm Metallring gefasste gummierte Scheibe, dass die Stativgabel den Tubus auf der Unterseite beschädigt.
