Carl Zeiss Jena 12x30 (Simptwelve)

This 12x30 monocular by Carl Zeiss seems to be quite rare. The binoculars of identical construction were the "Telefort". But the order word for the monocular glass was "Simptwelve" like the one for it predecessor 12x24 model.
The monocular has brass covers lacquered black and a dark brown leather covering at its housing. There also is the usual cast-in strap lug. The glass's striking difference to other Zeiss glasses is its short eyepiece (19-22mm) and flat plastic eye-cup. This results in a compact impression.

Das 12x30 trägt außer dem Zeisslinsenlogo und "12x" die Seriennummer 258445 (ein weitere 283597, 395313). Es wurde daher ca. 1911 gefertigt. Es wiegt 286g. Es ist 99 bis 101mm lang. Der Objektivtubus ist 4cm im Durchmesser, das Okular 24mm, die Augenmuschel 34mm. Das Gehäuse ist 50x50mm oben bzw. 54x54mm unten. Der Dioptrienauslgeich reicht von + bis - 10. The 12x30 has serial number 258445 besides its lens logo and "12x" inscriptions (other S/N is 283597, 395313). So, it must have been produced around 1911. It weighs 286g. It is 99 to 101mm long. The objective tube has a diameter of 40mm, the ocular is 24mm, and the eye-cup 34mm. The body is 50x50mm at its top and 54x54mm at its bottom. The dioptre adjustment ranges from + to - 10.

Das Monokular hat eine passende Ledertasche. Deren unterer Boden ist mit "D. Fraser 126/35 L.S.S Beauly" beschriftet. The monocular comes with a fitting leather case. Its bottom is marked "D. Fraser 126/35 L.S.S Beauly". This hints to export glass owned by a British officer.
