This Barr & Stroud monocular is one of the models within the porro 2 series with a conical objective tube. The usual inscriptions are "BARR & STROUD 10x CF47A Glasgow & LONDON" as well as "British Patent 572537" at the top cover. The side of the prism box is marked with serial number 118214. Thus it must date from around 1951. The patent refers to a new sort of film which connects the prisms and achieves a longer stable protection against separation etc. The design features are typical B&S: Bakelite eyecup, prism box and objective frame, and a textured paint covering of the tube.

Das 10x50 ist 235 bis 245mm lang, die Objektivfassung ist 67mm, der Tubusansatz 30mm im Durchmesser. Das Prismenghäuse ist 3,5cm hoch und 5cm im Durchmesser. Das rechtseitige Okular ist 29mm, der Fokussierungsteil 37mm im Durchmesser. Das CF47a wiegt 519g mit Trageriemen. Das vorliegende Exemplar kam in einem Lederköcher von Negretti & Zambra.

The 10x50 is 235 to 245mm long, the objective frame is 67mm, the smaller end of the tube is 30mm in diameter. The prism housing measures 3.5cm in height and 5cm in diameter. The right-hand sided ocular is 29mm, the focusing ring 37mm in diameter. The CF47A weighs 519g with its strap. The example here comes with a "Negretti & Zambra" leather case.
