| Ein eher seltenes Barr & Stroud Monocular, das sich durch ein Porro-1-Prismensystem plus verlängertem konischen Objektivtubus von den anderen B&S-Gläseren mit Porro-2-System oder kleinerer Objektivlinse unterscheidet. Das CF53A hat eine 10fache Vergrößerung und ein 42mm Objektiv sowie eine blau vergütete Optik. Die einfach verschraubten Deckel, die äußere Objektivfassung und die Augenmuschel sind aus Bakelit. Beide Deckel haben am überstehenden Teil Schlitze für den Trageriemen. Das Gehäuse und der Objektivtubus haben eine Rauhlackummantelung. Die Dioptrieneinstellung reicht von + bis -6 und ist bei 0, +5 und -5 gekennzeichnet. |
A rather rare Barr and Stroud monocular is the CF53A, which differs from the other models with a porro 2 system or smaller apertures by its porro 1 system with a elongated conical objective tube. The CF53A has a 10 times magnification and a 42mm objective lens. The optics are coated blue. The single screw cover plates are made of Bakelite. So are the objective frame and the eyecup. Both the covers have a lug at their protruding rim. The housing and the objective tube have a textured paint covering. The dioptre adjustment ranges from plus to minus 6, marked with 0, -5 and +5. |
| Die Seriennummer am Rand des oberen Deckels lautet 131869 (rechtsseitiges Okular) und müsste zwischen 1968 und '70 produziert worden sein. Weitere bekannte CF53A Seriennummern sind 120762 and 131872 (pers. Mitteilung v. W. Reid). Ein weiteres CF53A mit linkseitigem Okular hat die Nummer 113214. | The serial number at the rim of the upper cover plate is 131869 (right-hand sided ocular), thus dating from about 1968-70.
