Bausch & Lomb "Zeiss-Field-Glass" Power-8

Dieses "Zeiss Field Glass Power-8" mit Werten 8x20 stammt aus der B&L Zeit der so genannten "Triple Alliance" zwischen 1908 und 1914 und trägt deren Logo auf dem oberen Deckel mit den Buchstaben "B-S", "Z" und "S" für Bausch & Lomb, Zeiss und Saegmüller. Im Dopplekreis darum "Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Rochester N.Y.". Der untere Deckel ist mit Beschriftungen über den Besitzer graviert: wiederum zwischen den Linien des im Doppelkreises steht "THE TOPLEY COMPANY OTTAWA CANADA", in der Kreismitte ein Umriss-T. Außerdem ist der Deckel mit "Dept. Agric. Prov. N.B." für "Department of Agriculture Province New Brunswick" (Agrarministerium der Provinz Neu Braunschweig) gekennzeichnet. Auch der originale Lederköcher gibt weitere Hinweise: der Druckknopf hat die Frimenbezeichnung und im Köcherboden ist "Divison of Entomology C.E.F. Ottawa" (Insektenkunde) eingeritzt.

This 8x20 "Zeiss Field Glass Power-8" dates from B&L times during the so called "Triple Alliance" period between 1908 and 1914. Their logo with letters "B-S", "Z" und "S" – standing for Bausch & Lomb, Zeiss and Saegmüller – is inscribed on the top cover. Between the double circle lines it says "Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Rochester N.Y.". The bottom cover is marked with the owner's name: again between the circle lines being marked "THE TOPLEY COMPANY OTTAWA CANADA", in the circle centre is an outlined 'T'. Moreover, the cover plate is inscribed "Dept. Agric. Prov. N.B." (Department of Agriculture Province New Brunswick). Also the original leather case has more identification: the push button bears the maker's name and scratched into the bottom of the case is "Division of Entomology C.E.F. Ottawa".

Das Monokular hat schwarz lackierte Aluminiumdeckel, ein mit Rauhlack überzogenes Gehäuse und am linksseitigen Messingokular eine 2/3 Bakelitaugenmuschel. Die umlaufende Dioptrienskala ist bei + und - 5 sowie Null beschriftet. Am Gehäuse befindet sich eine aufgeschraubte kurze Trageriemenöse. Das 8x20 ist 96 bis 104 mm lang, das Gehäuse misst oben 40x40mm und unten 44x44mm. Die Objektivfassung ist 24mm, die Okularhülse 18mm und die Augenmuschel 30mm im Durchmesser. Der Metallstreifen der Trageöse ist 21mm lang. Das Glas wiegt 139g.

The monocular has black lacquered aluminium covers, a housing covered with textured paint, and a 2/3 Bakelite eyecup on the left-hand sided brass ocular. The dioptre scale is marked at + and -5 as well as zero. There is a short screwed-on strap lug at the housing. The 8x20 is 96 to 104 mm in length, the body measures 40x40mm at its top, and 44x44mm at its bottom. The objective frame is 24mm, the eyepiece 18mm and the eyecup 30mm in diameter. The metal strip of the lug is 21mm long. The glass weighs 139g.
