ATCO "Platvista" 10x35

Das 10x35 Porro-1-Monokular hat eine Lederummantelung mit Naht am Gehäuse und Objektivtubus. Diese Lederverarbeitungsweise lässt auf eine Herstellungszeit vor dem 1. Weltkrieg schliessen. Der obere Deckel ist dreifach verschraubt und hat in einem Dreieck-Logo die Kennzeichnung "ATCO PLASTVISTA", darunter "10x35". Der untere Deckel hat nur eine Verschraubung und ist mit "Germany" gekennzeichnet. Dies und der Modellname "Platvista" deutet darauf hin, dass das Monokular von Gebrüdern Nitschke, deren Modelle "Plastvista" hießen, in Rathenow für ATCO (American Thermo Companny) gefertigt wurde. Das Glas ist aus Messing mit einem ALuminiumkörper, die Augenmuschel ist aus Bakelit. Eine Tageriemenöse ist eingegoseen. Das linksseitige Okular hat eine umlaufende Dioptriensklala.

The 10x35 porro 1 monocular has a leather covering with a seam on the body and objective tube. THis kind of manufacturing hints to a production date before WWI. The top cover has three screws. It is marked "ATCO PLASTVISTA" in a triangle logo, and below that "10x35". The bottom cover has only one screw and is marked "Germany". These markings and the model name lets me assume that the monocular was made for ATCO (American Thermo Company) by Nitschke Bros. in Rathenow, whose models were named "Plastvista". The glass was made of brass with a aluminium body, the eyecup is made of Bakelite. There is a cast-in strap lug. The left-hand sided eyepiece comes with a full dioptre scale.
