Das 8x40 ist das "kleinste" der paarweise an beiden Seiten der Kinotheodoliten benutzten Monokulare mit 90° Einblick. Das Monokular ist grau lackiert. Das Gehäuse hat an beiden Seiten ein Kimme-und-Korn Visier, so dass es diesbezüglich egal ist, an welcher Seite des zugehörigen Drucktheodoliten es montiert wird. Auf der Unterseite sind die Stromkontakte für eine Rotlichtbirne, die eine Fadenkreuzstrichplatte beleuchtet. Das Okularstück ist auf einem flachen halbkugel-artigen Gehäuseteil angeschraubt und hat einen Dioptrienausgleich von + bis - 4, welcher an jedem Strich nummeriert ist. Die drehbare Gummiaugenmuschel mit Blendschutz fehlt. Ein mit einem Pfeil gravierter Drehknopf ermöglicht das Einschwenken der Filter "dunkel", "klar", "hell". Das Objektiv lässt sich mit Exzenterrignen justieren. The 8x40 is the "smallest" of the monoculars with 90° angled view used in apirs, one on each side of a cine-theodolite. The monocular are lacquered grey. There are quick sights on each side of the housing so that it does not matter which way and side to mount them on the Drucktheodolite. The bottom of the body comes with two pins for current input powering a red-light bulb which again illuminates a cross-hair reticle. The eyepiece is screwed onto a shallow dome shaped body part on top, and has a dioptre adjustment ranging from + to - 4, being marked at each dioptre line. The rotatable flared rubber eyecup is missing. A knob with an arrow can be turned to swing in the filters "dunkel", "klar", "hell" (dark, clear, light). The objective can be adjusted by exccetnric rings.

Das 8x40 wiegt 1174g. Es ist 22cm lang und ohne Augenmuschel und untere Montageplatte 11cm hoch. Der Objektivtubus ist 59mm, das Okularstück 34 und der Fokussierungsring 43mm im Durchmesser. Das tropfenförmige Gehäuse ist am schmalen Ende 60mm und am weitesten Teil 98mm breit. Die Analogvisiere sind 60mm lang und der Drehknopf 28mm im Durchmesser. The 8x40 weighs 1174g. It is 22cm lang and 11cm tall without eyecup and bottom mounting palte. The objective tube is 59mm, the eyepiece 34mm, and the focusing ring 43mm in diameter. The drop shaped body ist 60mm at its narrow end, and 98mm wide at its widest part. The quick sights are 60mm long and the filter knob is 28mm in diameter.

Die jeweils von einem Beobachter besetzten Monokulare wurden an einem Drucktheodoliten (Modellnr. 37 = Jahrgang) zum Verfolgen von Luftzielen in Höhe und Azimut montiert, dabei konnten die Messergebnisse der Winkel in Echtzeit ausgedruckt werden. Es wurde vorrangig zur Flugabwehr verwendet. The monoculars were were attached to a Drucktheodolite (model no. 37 = year), each one manned with an observer to track heigth and azimuth of targets or objects in the air. The measured angles could be printed in real time. Mostly they were used at anti-aircraft stations.
