Aldis Brothers Birmingham 16x

Dieses schwere Messingteleskop wurde von "Aldis Brothers Ltd." in Birmingham hergestellt. Ob es als Zielfernrohr auf Schiffen oder in Kampfflugzeugen, wie das "Aldis gunsight Patt. G344", genutzt wurde bleibt offen. Außer mit dem Firmennamen ist es mit "16x magnification" am Tubus beschriftet. Das Objektiv ist 50mm im Durchmesser. Als Okular wurde ein kleines Prismenmonokular in der Bauart der Richtkries-Monokulare mit 6 langen Schrauben aufgeschraubt. Ob dies eine Originalkonstruktion war oder nachträglich als Bildumkehrsystem ergänzt wurde, bleibt ebenfalls unbestimmt. Das Visier-Monokular ist nicht ummantelt und die typische Libellenwasserwaage fehlt, ebenso wurde das Beleuchtungsfenster für die Strichplattenbeleuchtung entfernt. Eine Strichplatte ist nicht vorhanden. Das Okular hat eine Gummiaugenmuschel.

G344" on ships or on airplanes. Besides the company's name it is marked "16x magnification" on the tube. The objective is 50mm in diameter. The eyepiece unit is a small prism monocular of the typical aiming circle design. It was attached with 6 long screws on the cover; this may be an original construction or a later addition as a image erectiung system. The monocular is not covered,a dn the characteristic level is missing in its place. Also, the illumination window for the reticle was covered with a brass part. There is no reticle any more. The eyepeice comes with a rubber eyecup.
