Aitchison 16x36

Dies ist ein weiteres Monokular von "Aitchison & Co. Makers London & Leeds" mit 36mm Objektivlinsees, das Exemlar mit Seriennummer 494 hat am untern Aluminiumdeckel eine, das Exempalr ohne Nummer hat keine Irisblende. Die Hartgummi-Deckelbeschriftung weist es als "x16" (also 16fach) aus. . Das Gehäuse mit dreieckiger Grundfläche mit gerundeten Ecken ist mit Leder (mit einer Naht) ummantelt und hat eine Tragerioemenöse an einer aufgeschraubten Metalllippe. Die Augenmuschel ist ebenfalls aus Hartgummi. Der Dioptrienausgleich reicht von + bis - 5 mit umlaufender Skala. Die Okularstücke haben beide das Prüfzeichen "KO", d.h. des "Kew Observatory" sowie "8" eingraviert, sie wurden also 1908 dort getestet.

This is another monocular by "Aitchison & Co. Makers London & Leeds" with a 36 aperture, one model with the serial number 494 with a diaphragm on the bottom aluminium cover plate, another model without a serial number and a diaphragm. The Ebonite cover plate markings identifies it as a "x16" (16 power) glass. The housing having a triangular base with rounded corners has a seamed leather covering and a strap lug which is part of a metal lip screwed onto the housing. The eyecup, too is made of hard rubber. The dioptre adjustment ranges from + to - 5 with a scale all around the ocular. Both eyepieces are marked with "KO", the control sign for the "Kew Observatory", and with an "8" meaning it was tested there in 1908.

Das Monokular ist 195-203mm lang bzw. bei dem exempalr mit Irisblende ca. 2mm länger. Das Prismengehäuse ist 29x29mm (kurze Seiten) und 35mm (längste Seite) breit. Der konische Tubus ist 32-48mm im Durchmesser. und führt mit einem 48mm Durchmesser am gerade Objektivubus weiter. Der Durchmesser des Okulartubuses ist 19mm, beim Fokussierungsteil 25mm und der der Augenmuschel 33mm. Das 16x36 wiegt 338g.

The conical tube increases from 32mm to 48mm in diameter, and cintinues with 48mm diameter on the straight objective tube. The eyepiece has a 19mm, the focusing part a 25mm, and the eyecup a 33mm diameter. The 16x36 weighs 338g.
