Watson - Baker Co. Ltd. x6

Dieses 6x30 Monokular ist im Gegensatz zu den anderen "Watson & Sons"-monokularen mit "x6 Watson -Baker Co Ltd. Welvyn G.C. Herts B.1338" (ein weiteres Exemplar B.1203 ist auch mit "England" beschriftet). Wann genau der Firmensitz von "Watson & Sons" von London-Barnet nach Welvyn (Garden City) in Hertfordshire gewechselt hat, ist mir nicht genau bekannt, wahrscheinlcih um den 2. Weltkrieg herum. Das Monokular hat ein mit Rauhlack ummanteltes Gehäuse mit einer eingegossenen Trageriemenöse. Die einfach verschraubtn Deckel sind schwarz lackiert. Die Augenmuschel ist aus Kunststoff und hat ein Messinggewinde. Die Dioptrienskala am rechtsseitigen Okular geht von plus bis minus fünf, ist aber nur mit null und + und - gekennzeichnet.

This 6x30 monocular is inscribed "x6 Watson -Baker Co Ltd. Welvyn G.C. Herts B.1338" in contrast to the other "Watson & Sons" monoculars - another piece B.1203 is also marked "England".. What time exactly Watson moved to Welvyn (Garden City) in Hertfordshire from von London is not certain, but probably around WWII. The monocular has a rough paint covering at the body and a cast-in strap lug. The cover plates have one scdrew and are painted black. The eyecup is made of plastic with a brass threading inside. The dioptre scale at the right-hand sided coular ranges from plus to minus five, but is only marked with zero, + and - .

Mit dem Trageriemen wiegt das 6x30 251g. Es ist 120-125mm lang und misst oben am Gehäuse 49x50mm und unten 55x55mm. Die Objektivfassung ist 43mm im Durchmesser, das Okularstück 27mm, der Fokussierungsteil 31mm und die Augenmuschel 33mm im Durchmesser.

The glass wiehgs 251g with its strap. It is 120-125mm in length, and measures 49x50mm or 55x55mm at the housing. The objective frame is 43mm in diameter. The eyepiece measures 27mm, the focusing ring 31mm, and the eyecup 33mm in diameter.
