Steiner 8x22

The Steiner Company (Bayreuth) distributes a turmon re-make, a folding monocular with 8x22 specifications, and with a blueish violet coating. Steiner probably lets them have made in China. There are already three version over the years:
  1. silver model with metal objective, bended metal covers and metal eyepiece, a rubber eyecup, black plastic base plate foldable only in one direction, a dioptre scale from + to -5 (c. 1995-2004 ?)
  2. olive-green model with metal objective, but else plastic parts. Otherwise the construction features are the same like the first model (ca. 2005-2010 ?)
  3. black model, plastic with silvery decoration elements, and a base plate foldable only in one direction, oval, but sideways straight covers, only wiht diotpre markings of "+ 0 -" (since c. 2015)

Daten s.a. beim aktuellen Modell.
The model measures 75x25x46mm when folded flat. The weiht varies from 91g, later 83g, and now 77g depneding on the materials used. further data see new model.
There was a silver model being marked "50 Jahre 1947 - 1997" (= 50 years 1947 - 1997); hence the folding monocular may have been built initially for the anniversary.
