Ross x3 (3x16)

(A. Kershaw & Sons) beschriftet (s. Foto).
This military fix focus sight with a 45° angled view was made in Great Britain in WWII. by Ross Ltd. and some other makers. It has Admirality Pattern G332(M). The pictures show models with Ross logos from different company periods so that it may have been produced after WWII. The specimen I have is inscribed with "Patt. G322M" and its specifications "x3" as well as f.o.v. "13°" - in between a small circle - and below "75/PPE/104143". PPE is the abbreviation for Pilkington Perkin-Elmer (cf. Avimo 7x42), a company which assumingly only overhauled the sight in 1975. It is coated blue. Another known specimen is marked "A.K.&S." (A. Kershaw & Sons) (see photo).
The monocular has a dove-tail mount at its bottom and desiccation outlets at its top and bottom (red screw) of its round body. The objective comes with a fixed rain guard tube, and the eyepiece has a soft rubber eyecup. The sight has a built-in cross-hair reticle. The scope was used on AA guns. So, another model has a more complex grid reticle and an illumination unit.
