Fritz Moser 12x38

Weltkrieg spricht.
This 12x38 Porro I monocular with a longer conical objective tube shows typical features used by French makers: among others, a linear focusing movement of the eyepeice, the combination of the optical data, and especially the logo on the top cover - a plane-convex lens like used by Deraisme Paris. As Deraisme and other French companies also produced for many other brands, it most likely that it was also done for Fritz Moser. Moser probably was an optician from France or a german speaking country.
The monocular has black lacquered brass cover paltes and also an eyepiece and obejctive frame made of brass. Other parts are made of aluminium. The housing with its cast-in strap-lug is covered with some brwon leather, probably substituted at a later time. The cover paltes have no screws. The right-hand sided eyepiece has a Bakelite or Ebonite eyecup and a dioptre scaler ranging from plus to minus 10. The focusing ring has crosswise horizontal and vertical knurling. The glass is uncoated and the optical inscription with only "12x" hints to a pre-WWI or atound WWI production.

The Moser monocular weighs 334g. It is 184-191mm long.
