Lemaire Paris 8x (25)

Von der Pariser Optikerfirma Lemaire, die zumeist für ihre galileischen Gläser bekannt ist, stammt dieses 8x25 Prismenmonokular. Es hat eine Geradführung des Okulars und eine braune Lederummantelung um das Aluminiumgehäuse. Die Augenmuschel ist aus braunem Bakelit. Das linksseitige Okular hat über dem Fokussierungsring eine Dioptrienskala. Die Beschriftung am oberen schwarz lackierten Deckel lautet: "Lemaire Fabt. Paris 8x Extra Lumineuse". Der zweifach verschraubte Aludeckel steht an einer seite über und bildet durch eine Aussparung so eine Trageöse. Der dreifach verschraubte untere Deckel trägt den Besitzernamen "H.R. Hornby", der auch auf der Ledertasche zu finden ist.
Die Bauweise erinnert an frühere Huet-Gläser – die Herstellungszeit liegt vor dem 1. Weltkrieg.
This 8x25 prism monocular was made by the Parisian maker Lemaire who is famous for his Galilean opera glasses. The ocular has linear movement for focusing. The aluminium housing is covered with brown leather. The eyecup was made of brown Bakelite. The left-hand sided ocular has a dioptre scale above the milled focusing ring. The inscription on the top cover plate says: "Lemaire Fabt. Paris 8x Extra Lumineuse". The cover has two screws. The plate protrudes over the rim of the housing, thus building a strap lug. The bottom cover has threee screws and i smarked with the owner's name "H.R. Hornby", which also is stamped onto leather case.
The monocular's desing resembles those of early Huet glasses – date of production is before WWI.

Das 8x30 ist je nach Fokussierung 122-130mm lang und ist am Gehäuse oben und unten ca. 5x5cm breit. Die Objektivfassung misst 33mm, das Okular unten am Fuß 27mm, am Fokussierungsring 32mm, an der Okularhülse 21mm und bei der Augenmuschel 36mm im Durchmesser. Das Glas wiegt 264g. The 8x30 is 122-130mm long depending on ocular adjustment. The housing measures 50x50mm top and bottom. The objective frame is 33mm, the ocular 27mm a its foot, 32mm at the focusing ring, 21mm at the ocular tube, and finally 36mm in diameter at the eyecup. The glass weighs 264g.
