Huet 6x24 Monocular

The metal parts of this 6x24 monocular were obviously repainted with a thick black layer. So the top cover plate markings are hard to read: it is "Huet Paris" in its prism logo, below MG (Ministre de Guerre = War Ministry) and a number "...7939", probably preceded by some other digits or "No.".
Hence: the glass was used by the French army (MG) and painted extra for more resistance. At least the paint prevents the ocular from turning, so that we have a fix focus glass. The dioptre scale is completely overpainted. The objective lens is mounted and held by excentric rings for collimination (s. pic of disassembled glass). All these facts about repainting, markings, fix focus and excentric rings may hint at a binocular refurbished as a monocular, although there are no bridge stumps visible; also the synthetic leather or rough paint covering is fully intact.

Das Glas wiegt mit Trageriemen 242g, ist 103mm hoch und 48x48 bzw. 51x51mm breit. The monocular weighs 242g with its strap. It measures 103mm in height and 48x48mm or 51x51mm in width. The objectie retainer ring and the former focusing ring are 35mm in diameter, whereas the Bakelite eyecup is only 34mm in diameter.
