Carl Zeiss "Asimila" 30x110

The "Asimila" monocular was offeed by Zeiss with 30x110mm specifications (s. catalogue below). The box-like coin-operator was made for old 1 Francs coins. The inscriptions on the operator box are left of the ocular "cArl Zeiss Jena" within th elens logo, aboe this "30x" and below "No 11164"; and right of the ocular in French "Ouverture 1 Fr. Bien enfoncer" (= open 1 Fr. press in well). Putting in the coin releases a shutter which drive by some clockwork closes again after c. 2 minutes. The actual coin storing box is missing (cf. CZ Asesor 20x80 Automatenfernrohr, red frame).
The focusing or dioptre adjustment has a special feature: when turning the ocular there is no stop at the maximum adjustment point, but the ocular starts truning back the other way. This was probably made to protect the ocular from overwinding by the user. The Asimila comes with a air gap achromat objective. The latte is marked "Carl Zeiss Jena Nr. 14473 C f=75cm".
The telescope has a aiming sight and a forked mount with a 30mm hole for the tripod rod. Either a pedestrial tripod (model "Asimila") or a three legged metal rod tripod (model "Asimetro") were available. The monocular was made of brass and aluminium and painted black.
